Tevez [Merged]

I didn't and don't expect you to say outright, as that would put you in the firing line from the resident morons...

As a fellow blue asking a fellow blue, I just wanted to know whether or not you (as someone who is more privy to myself) were confident that he would sign.

No biggie, and no quest for a confirmation...

I'd just like to gauge your general feelings on a possible outcome.

Cheers mate.

No problem. If I knew something was going to happen, I would have absolutely no problem saying something knowing I will be in the firing line. And if it didn't happen I expect grief. I reported on here that Mackintosh had gone way before the media or anyone else knew because I knew it was happening...as for Tevez I don't have any real information that says it's nailed on and I don't have enough information to make a judgement. I'm not going to guess or make anything up or take a chance hoping that it will come good.

City are clearly looking to bring Tevez in and he is apparently on the list of first choice players that Hughes wants to sign.

One more article from Phil Hall (Tevez's PR) from one month ago...makes interesting reading:-

"Today one of our clients, Carlos Tevez, is accused of being petulant because he did an interview with two Sunday newspapers revealing that it was sadly time to move on from Manchester United, a club he loves and respects.

He did the interview because stories had been published suggesting he was demanding too much money, his wife and child did not like living in England, he wanted to move to Real Madrid - all of which is untrue.

Tevez is not what most people perceive a footballer to be. He is modest, when he signs autographs he engages the fan rather than signing while looking into the horizon, he does not argue with referees and his professionalism extends to all the right areas - he trains hard, he is punctual and he gives his all to the cause.

The simple fact is Manchester United have not tried to renew his contract. So why is he being petulant? The answer is he is not. He wanted to give an explanation to the fans that have supported him. He was not criticizing Manchester United or their manager.

And in my view he can move on with his head held high and his dignity in tact… and I guarantee he will become a hero at his next club."

I'm not ITK (thank God), and I don't believe anyone who is...but when you read things like that, it does seem like he's going to move on, doesn't it? Not necessarily to City, of course. It's rare that Fergie mends bridges with players who speak out - however justifiably - and, for all Carlito is a class player, he is not irreplaceable, and to be honest, for the rags, probably not a £25million player. They have spent £10mill (ish?) and got 2 excellent trophy laden seasons on him, and probably reckon the £80-100m they can spend would go better on:
Benzema, Ribery, Valencia.

They've known Ronaldo may go for ages. It's just not how the rags do business, to let it be strung out like this. If they really wanted him, he would've signed by now. IMO.

I agree with you. You don't do stuff to the papers or let your PR man print stuff like that if you want to stay...Freguson is not tolerant of stuff like this...just ask Jaap Stam.

Mate please refrain from calling him carlito or carlitos it's very raggish!

Sorry - it's what Kia calls him as well.

If he comes, will we sing cringeworthy 'argentina' chants like they do, too? Hope not.
