Paul Scholes recalls refusing to play for Man Utd
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes tells BBC Radio 5 live how he refused to play in a League Cup tie in 2001.
Scholes says what he did was "equally bad if not worse" than Carlos Tevez, who apparently refused to warm up against Bayern Munich.
The former England international also says he can understand why Tevez apparently refused to warm up in Manchester City's Champions League match.

Exfuckingactly. I believe Scholes started the next game. Rooney asked for a transfer and accused the club of lacking ambition and his teammates of not being good enough. Wonder how that one ended?

With Tevez we have a much bigger chance of winning the league! That's it for me no brainer, anyone saying he shouldn't play is deluded, he's world class, the players have stated they are glad hes back! He wins us the league then moves in the summer, DONT CUT OFF YOUR NOSE TO SPITE YOUR FACE!!!

Decided not to risk the wrath of everyone by starting a new thread on this particular aspect of things relating to Tevez, just hope it doesn't get lost under the weight of the rest of the thread. Had me tea and went for poo, so just come back having cogitated properly regarding this...

Earlier on SSN, Peter Stevenson was outside the ground and he said "....playing golf and a couple of charity matches..."

Has Stevenson got that wrong or have I missed something? Is it common knowledge he has played elsewhere? If not, breach of contract or do you reckon he's been given permission?

I know he turned up at La Bombanera for Palermo's testimonial, but did not play, so maybe Stevenson is confusing himself. I heard the words and thought it quite astonishing.

Can anyone shed any light on this one for me please?

What Scholes did do was refuse to play but what he did not do when reprimanded was go on strike and spend months out of the country playing golf. Big difference. Tevez has dug this hole himself.

I think he's referring to charity golf matches.

We seem to be doing better without him, do we not???

There's many, many reasons for him not to touch the first team again but I just can't be arsed typing them all out!

There are an awful lot of legalities and politics involved with what is going on. Let's just trust Bert, as it will be him winning us the league not EWD.
