Tevez transfer thread

Dalglish upset at City for leaking details.

Dalglish's dig at blabbermouth City

Kenny Dalglish has slammed Manchester City’s business methods, and insisted Andy Carroll is going nowhere.

City leaked their claim that the Anfield outfit made an inquiry about a potential swap of Carroll and Carlos Tevez.

But Dalglish says there will be no last-minute transfer window activity and has told the moneybags City that they are wrong to go public with such sensitive claims.

“We’re not going to get involved in justifying what people are saying – we don’t have to," said the Scot. "Get City to justify it, not us.

“We’re not talking about any specific incident, but if you are going to do business in any way shape or form, no matter what life you are in, you don’t need to disclose it until it’s done.

“As (Liverpool chairman) Tom Werner said the other day, there’s no point letting the facts get in the way of a good story - when he was talking about Stewart Downing being bought from a clip off YouTube. Do us a favour.”

Dalglish explained he would refuse to dignify City’s claims with any public pronouncements on the subject, but sources within the Anfield club have rubbished them.

They argue there is still annoyance at Eastlands over the Reds boss’s tongue-in-cheek one-liner last week, after City were knocked out of the Carling Cup, wondering if they had more players similar to Craig Bellamy to give away.

For his part, Dalglish is bluntly maintaining his position, held since the current transfer window opened, that he will be doing no business this month.

“Nothing is happening at all and we don’t anticipate it to either. Last year was a bit manic but there’ll be nothing this time,” he said.

“There’s no need for us to pass comment on anything that’s been speculative in any way shape or form. We’ve said what’s going to happen, and that’s nothing. It’s quiet.”

There has been a frenzy of speculation over Carroll's future since the window opened, with the end of his difficult first year at Anfield looming.

But Dalglish is adamant he is happy with the contribution of the big striker, and he believes he can carve out a long career at the club if he develops his game.

“We don’t have any problems with any of the players, because they are all going nowhere,” he said.

“Andy has said he is very happy here and doesn’t regret coming. That’s the best reference you can get, but for some reason the focus always seems to be on the big fella.”

Funny, because no one at our club said anything to the media and Mancini publicly denied it today.

Keep your mouth shut fuckin twat.

Marwood, you legend.

But shortly afterwards, sources claimed City's football administrator, Brian Marwood, had received a call on Thursday from someone at Anfield with the authority to suggest the Tevez swap, with no cash attached. One source suggested Marwood, who was surprised but not interested in acquiring Carroll, responded with a joke along the lines of "throw in Stevie G and we'll think about it," which brought the brief conversation to a close.

He can stay just for that.

I highly doubt Tevez would play for us ever again, probably an appearance on the bench but no more than that. Mancini's has too much pride to play Tevez again after what happened.

He doesn't want to play in England at club level again.

I doubt he wants to play anywhere again for that matter.

A golf career in the equivalent of five grades below Argentina's Nationwide tour beckons ( in between any bit of skirt he gets of course ).

He has the gall to appeal the 9 million in fines when he was thousands of miles away not working!! Fuck this guy!

Did he appeal his fine to the Premier League chiefs? The deadline was yesterday, I think...

this is a real concern, how long can Tevez milk it for if he doesn't leave?

Very good that from Marwood but I like this one better:

It was 15 December when Manchester City's executive chairman, Garry Cook, first made contact with Milan. "I'll come out with this straight away," he said over the phone to Adriano Galliani, the club's vice-president. "We want your best player and I'm ringing up to see how much you want for him."

Galliani listened and said he would speak to Silvio Berlusconi, the president. Later that day, a fax came through to Cook's office. It was signed by Galliani and told him Kaka was available if City "delivered the sum of 200 million". Cook jokingly faxed back: "Is that lira?"
