Not a text story, but a phone (landline) conversation I had with someone once.

This bloke rings our house and I answer. Doesn't introduce himself as such, just says Hi and asks if it is Dad's birthday today. I was convinced it was one of my brothers so we had this long conversation about when Dad's birthday was. It was doing my head in though that he thought it that month (May I think) whilst my Dad's birthday is actually October.

After a while I asked who the caller was (because I couldn't decide which brother it was of the three, and they all sound alike on the phone). The caller said "Your husband of course??!!" I then explained that my husband was actually sat next to me.

It was a bit embarrassing as both of us had been getting a bit heated about the other one not knowing when "our" dad's birthday was.
