Thank You Kyle Walker

Our best ever right back that Pep didn't trust in the big games? CL final. Villa at home final day. He was class for us - but best ever is OTT

Book > Walker

Tony Book was a very good player but a much better captain. He was a proper leader, fearless, tough, and led by example. A real man in a real man's game. Tony took that forward to become a very good coach and manager. That's Tony's legend.

Tony was a defender, pure and simple. With Summerbee in front of him, he didn't have to put in surging runs etc. The game was different. Tony shared the Player of the Year award with Dave MacKay who, like him, was a strong leader. Different times... defenders winning POTY awards.

Kyle Walker was perfect for the modern game, where the full back has a number of roles, covering the centre, overlapping winger, backing up the wing back / midfield, and he could at least match anyone for speed.

Different men, different times. Both the right men at the right time for City. In my view, Tony Book's contribution to City's recovery and success in the 60s is beyond measure, but it was predominantly as a leader. A man who would run through brick walls for his team. But peak Kyle Walker was, in my opinion, the better footballer of the two great men.

There's not a lot in it, but I honestly think that Kyle Walker could have played at top level in the 60s and 70s. Tony Book wouldn't have lasted 15 minutes in the modern game, but he would still have been a bloody good captain - That’s the only area that he is well ahead of Walker imo.

Two great club men.

I respect that post

I can't believe I'm reading comments referring to Kyle Walker as 'good' and 'decent' for City.

Kyle Walker was probably the best right back we've ever had at City. He's been an excellent servant for the club for years, and has earned and deserves far more respect from fans than some are saying on here.

Respect is earned for more than just running and kicking a ball. Respect reflects who you are as a person.

Walker is a ****. He gets fuck all respect from me.

There’s a reason that there’s massive statues of David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany outside of the stadium.

Spot the difference between those guys as human beings with integrity and dignity, and the likes of Kyle Walker.

He's a footballer. He was a bloody great footballer, as proved by his career records.

I'm not remotely interested in what he does/doesn't do, of has/hasn't done outside of football... unless you are personally involved or have been negatively impacted by his activities etc outsude of football, it's actually none of your business.

Just watch and enjoy the football. It's all that we need to be concerned about. There are plenty of old City players whose activities outside of the game would make your head spin... including some that have statues.

It's called living a life.

That’s your opinion. I totally disagree.

It's not an opinion, it's a fact. His private life is none of your business. I bet you spend the evenings peeping at neighbours behind your curtains.

What the fuck are you on about.

He’s a professional footballer and like it or not, part of that job is you’re a role model to impressionable young fans.

Yes you’re entitled to a private life, but that’s the problem. Walker’s shit wasn’t private, it was very public.

It might not bother you, and that’s up to you. But I thought his antics were disgusting and I lost all respect for him.

People are allowed to have different levels of what they find acceptable, you know.

They're only 'role models' to the gullible and feeble minded mate!

It's the price of fame in the era of social media and the Internet. Take it from me, Kyle Walker is a saint compared to one of our 1976 Wembley legends.

Stick to football and not salacious gossip. Appreciate his talent on the pitch.

Again, that’s your point of view and you’re entitled to hold it.

Just as I am entitled to mine.

I'm not getting into it, but you would be surprised how many "heroes" who get statues are not what they seem in public/private. It's just some either don't get found out or manage their publicity better. Some even get knighted!
The rich and famous really do live in a different world to most people. What you might judge as unforgivable can be taken as fair game in their world.
You judge the players, but their wives can be just as bad.
It's funny how a lot of wives/partners seem the forgiving types when a lot of money is involved.

Basically it's up to the people involved. If a wife/girlfriends doesn't like the actions/indiscretions of a footballing partner, they can always leave. (like in all relationships)
As long as the player isn't doing something illegal, then all should matter to us is how they play for the team.

Tueart or Barnes ?

MMMMmmm, a lot of folk felt that John Stones was going to Everton... are they going to be playing together again!!!!???? ;-)

Oh no, JS is in America. Interesting eh?

He doesn't have to be here to agree to a move, agents deal with everything and he could just sign on the dotted line when he gets back.

He almist certainly won't though...Unless Everton, or anyone else, are ready to pay about £15m or so, he'll be at City next season seeing out his contract!

Like you, I'd love to see a fully fit John Stones playing 40+ games next season!
