Big Joe and Ginger Kieth McRea were our best combo in my memory..What a pair !
Mcrae had made a great start to his City career & looked like he was going to be the main keeper for us .
But by god Big Joe took his chance when Keith got injured .
You would always see Joe having laugh & joke with Head groundsman Stan Gibson coming back on the pitch after halftime ,Stan with his pitching fork lol!

Corrigan & MacRae was the first combo I can remember (if your looking for a guy who could play outfield as well as in goal MacRae was one of the first….
What about Harry Dowd? He was injured against Bury. It was Colin Bell’s first league game (for Bury) in which he predictably scored. Dowd injured his arm (no subs back then) and came back on up-front and scored the equaliser.
