i suppose he should start saying "We are gonna lose as we are so so shit"....

Get a grip.

no. he shouldn't have said anything at all or should have said something like let the best team win

not "when, not if, we get to Wembley" and "Without doubt we will become the biggest club in the world."

made the club look like right muppets.

Im sorry but this thread is a fucking disgrace and alot of you that have posted and that will post in it want to take a good hard look at yourselves and question where your loyalty stands cos by slagging off one of our own and trying to blame him.........

your loyalty is obviously not with City and the future of this club!

No, let me explain it to you, you foul mouthed, sanctimonious idiot!

I am NOT blaming GC for the performance on the pitch. We lost fair and square to a team that scored more goals than we did over the 2 legs. There's little GC could have done about that. However, on top of feeling incredibly gutted about the result, as a club, we look a bit stupid now because of what GC said which further adds to the criticism we receive DAILY for being too big for our boots.

The only person's making this club look stupid are bellends like yourself.

I know you aren't the only one but, do you not think that we can become the biggest and best club in the world?

Do you not think we can beat United?

Do you not think we will be at Wembley?

Its over a week ago now since Garry made those comments and most will have just shrugged it off, but no, some people have to rehash old news which makes it more visible in the public eye again.

If people would let things lie, instead of having a pop at anyone involved with the club at any given opportunity we wouldn't be half the laughing stock as your making us out to be.

Get behind the team and back the club. We are still in the FA Cup with a home draw in the next round, on the verge of breaking into the top 4, and in all possibility with a good run we can still win the Premiership.

(If you feel that last paragraph makes the club look stupid, please let me know and i'll delete it. Just for you. And how is that for sanctimonious?)

Thanks again Ricster for being unnecessary insulting. It may have escaped your attantion but my comments on this are confined to this thread on this forum. GC's comment was on international SKY TV.

I am a lot more optimistic about beating United since we were taken over and have invested heavily in the team but I certainly wouldn't say it's a foregone conclusion.

Of course I do, very much so. In fact, I am positively optimistic it will be this year in the FA Cup.

In an ideal world yes but you may recall Keegan mentioning something about city being a "Massive" club ... being such a loyal City fan I don't need to tell how long that's hung around for.

I have been behind the team for 37 years and will continue to be until I shuttle off this mortal coil. What you seem to be getting confused about is ... I am not criticising Gary Cook in general, I am just expressing my opinion that he, in my view, should not have said what he said. Yes big the club up ... it's part of his job but don't go making cocky and bold statements about brushing aside one of the biggest teams in the world as if it's a foregone conclusion. I do believe we are going to be one of the biggest clubs in the world and only then can we truly be confident of beating United in our stride. Whether or not the our Chief exec should say it is a matter for debate ... clearly.

If you honestly think that I would feel your last paragraph would make the club look stupid ... I think you're a tad confused.

Sorry about the insults but after reading this thread i couldn't hold back. You probably noticed i was a bit wound up with what i read. (Bit calmer now).

But do you honestly think Sky showed all the footage or did a clever bit of editing?

We as fans are giving the media ammunition all the time and this is the point im trying to make.

Again, my sincere apologies.

I admire Cook. It's about time we got arrogant and started getting away from feeling like the poor little 'Citeh' that everyone else sees us as.

My apologies too. Not the best of nights or moods!

I still think that this was a storm in a teacup though.

Better to state ambition and mean it rather than meekly accepting mediocrity and footballing subserviance.

Cook's words had absolutely no bearing on what happened yesterday.Chip papers.
Personally- I think the man is a particularly crass individual who should be let absolutely nowhere near a microphone in a public place.

But as others have said, this is not really the time to associate Cook's hyped-up tubthumping in a New York bar with our honourable, graceful beahviour in defeat yesterday.

Although I do 100% disagree that we should become arrogant about our club.Confident,yes.Assertive,absolutely.Defend ourselves-for sure.

But "biggest this, biggest that"-let's leave that to the other lot,eh?

This isn't the first time Cook has come out with this. He said the same last August at a similar meeting I went to. It's been made to look like he was saying all this with the Untied game in mind when I have no doubt he wasn't. Cook is stating what City fans want to hear. We will get to Wembley sometime soon (not as soon as I would have liked) and we could become the biggest club in the world.
Cast your mind back to the 70s and 80s. United were shit and were trying to catch and surpass Liverpool. It took 20 years but they did it. They then became the biggest club in the world and have won God knows how many trophies in the last 20 years. We are about to overtake them and be the best for the next 20.
