City unveil mosaic for Yaya

‘It’s something you can look at and see how effective you have been,’ Toure said. ‘This club was my first wife — even my wife knew it.’

At half-time (against United) we were nearly fighting in the dressing room,’ Toure revealed. ‘We said go out and play like men — or we go home and say to Khaldoon, “Thank you, we’ve eaten the money but we move on because this club will never achieve”.

‘You saw a different City in the second half. The win was a message. They knew City were coming.

‘Some said I came not to win trophies but was more impressed by money. The purpose was to put United in the shadow. The semi-final was a big part of that.’

‘What these fans and what this club want from me, I have given,’ Toure added. ‘It’s like I’m empty. I’m free to go. The most difficult part will be playing against City.

‘Maybe clubs need my experience. When I’m around the young guys, I affect them. Gabriel Jesus was not playing and not happy. I took him to one side and gave him a pat on the back.

‘The manager doesn’t know I’m doing that. That’s why you see the guys sing my name and come to slap me.’

And that is why they call him Uncle Yaya.

Fantastic. Very sad to see him go, be great to see him back one day.

Wonder which Premier League club will take him.

He’d improve almost every Premier League team. His legs haven’t gone, he’s just not match fit. It wasn’t long ago people were saying the same about Aguero. Footballers aren’t machines, they need game-time, some more than others.

It’s their human right to invade the pitch

Section 4 of the Football Offences Act 1991 suggests otherwise: "It is an offence for a person at a designated football match to go onto the playing area, or any area adjacent to the playing area to which spectators are not generally admitted, without lawful authority or lawful excuse (which shall be for him to prove)."

Toure has become something of a father figure to City’s younger players in recent seasons, earning him the nickname Uncle Yaya.

And on Sunday after City’s title celebrations, Kevin De Bruyne praised his dressing room impact this season, despite his limited game time.
Guardiola believes his influence will be sorely missed and says he is a player to whom pressure was never a problem.

“Yaya is great in the locker room with the old guys and young guys,” he said.

“He deserves the respect from the other ones, no doubt.

“He came from the [Roberto] Mancini era, after Manuel [Pellegrini], and the things they won, he was so, so important.

“We will not judge Yaya on this season. Maybe I was wrong with my decisions.
Great from Pep, and major kudos for Yaya with the youngsters, and the dressing room in general.

I've been watching us since the late 80s. He's the same age as me, and I'm watching videos now and only just realising how good he was.

Maybe I took it for granted? Who knows.

Thanks Big Man. In your pomp, there was no-one better. And when this is all over, you will go down as one of City's best ever.

Hope he gets a great send-off tomorrow.

True but the top teams will be able to by pass Yaya with balls in channels and between the lines. He'll only hurt you when he has the ball. My guess he'll go to someone like Everton or Newcastle.

One of the best...pivotal in getting us where we are today , out of the shadow of the big red bus team. When he came he owned the midfield for a number of years and was untouchable - strong on the ball and like a freight train when running

Decline happens to the best, just part of a footballing life, but bloody hell I am glad we had him.

Yaya thanks for everything, Club legend.

Makes you appreciate the quality of what you see in front of you doesn’t last forever. He was exciting, powerful, dominant, excellent at keeping the ball, could burst forward from midfield to attack, could score goals from anywhere (outside the box, free kicks, penalties, good footwork inside the box...) and in the very biggest games he was there at the forefront. At his best he’s been our best player since the takeover. Will be a top send off for him tonight!

Thank you Yaya. One of the gang of 5 who will forever be a City legend (Komps, Dave, Yaya, Zaba, Kun). He was a force of nature and one of the most talented footballers I have ever seen. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

I think he's been very weak for 2-3 seasons, but still one of our greatest ever players.

Going out with virtually no media coverage at all which is unbelievably poor.

I will be amazed if he's playing regularly in the Premier League next season. He may have been truly gifted as a player but when the engine goes that's it, especially in the Premier League which is so fast.

Amazing player, thank you Yaya for everything!

After the interview on the OS I can't help but to think however that he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer and that he has been duped by his **** of an agent, which stirred up some unnecessary shit. Although this is long forgotten, he will unfortunately not go down as a legend for me because of this, something Vinnie, Silva, Zab and Kun will. This although Yaya has played just an integral, maybe even more integral, role than the former.

Sometimes you need a player that will grab the game by its neck and win you it. Yaya was that. I forget about all off the pitch and think about what he did on the pitch.

Could be biased as he was my favourite city player and have him on the back of 3 shirts haha.

Amazing player in his prime. Never got the recognition in this country that he deserved.
