That 34 Year Banner Mocking Us at The Swamp.

Maybe Sid has realised what a stupid fucking idea it was. It does make me question how old Sid is,like he's only seen City's success, while us longer in the tooth remember years of pain and piss taking from the Rags who thought they were entitled to success and how we are just better than those Red twats. We have a self-depreciative humour that sets us apart from those arrogant c*nts.
Makes a change from his anti vax shite i suppose whilst wearing his dipper top, allegedly ;)

I hate it when we do rag chants when we’re not even playing them. They’re worn out has been’s similar to dog shit on your shoe.

I was never that bothered by the banner. If anything, I thought it showed that we still mattered to them, giving the lie to their claims at the time that City were so far below them as to never figure in their thoughts.

But what was even more revealing, given that they thought this perfectly acceptable banter, was the reaction when we had a little pop back with the Tevez 'Welcome to Manchester' poster. "[City are] a small club with a small mentality," raged a furious Taggart before confronting Vicky Kloss with a foul-mouthed tirade in the tunnel at Old Trafford.

It confirmed what we'd known all along - they're just bullies. And like most bullies, they love dishing it out but can't take a bit back.

Preferable to let them eventually realise what's happened to them over 10 years, and quietlty to let them stupify in their increasing irrelevance as, bit by bit, they find other things to entertain themselves with, as holes develop in their plastic souvenirs.

Whilst out on a walk this morning, I remembered the flag at O.T. something along the lines of ‘Your players make money, ours make history’.

Made me laugh then and makes me laugh a lot now!

I'll never forget either this or the red paint they threw at the Tevez Welcome to M/cr sign as I had to walk through the stains that most of the actual paint left on the floor as I lived down that road at the time.
I always remember the mural on the ring road with Bobby Manc on it being vandalised along with Mary D's , the bstards just think that they have a divine right to everything and everyone

We apparently meant nothing to them, but that banner meant, we meant everything to them! little ole city from main road living in there cockney baked bean heads rent free, maybe a plane over the etihad with a banner Derby day

It is sort of happening already, but in the virtual world.

On their equivalent site (Red cafe) there is a thread '4 years without a trophy'. Everytime it drops off page one, someone bumps it up again. It is driving some of their members crazy....

I personally would love one, but our owners, and the people the run the club, have way too much class to allow it to go up. We do not worry about our neighbours, which could not be said of them after our take-over.

I think all of us City supporters, just take assurance every time we se them build their straw house over at the swamp, with their manager appointments, and scattergun approach to transfers. We have built a tanker ourselves, which will take ages to stop, whilst they are being rocked about in their inflatable, in the wake of what we built.

Twenty two points behind us, after just over half a season!!!!

Good post..
Floats my boat anyway.

So fairly split, about 50/50 then? :)

Another no from me. I'd be up for a party if David May's lad fancies sorting it...

There was a plan to steal it that almost came off.

I know of a couple of lads who stayed behind after one game in the toilets and worked their way around to the upper tier, only for security to get in the way.

On another occasion, the same people went on the Stadium tour and peeled off. Unfortunately, the shutters were down between the two sections of stand where they met.

It was to be cut down and brought out at the upcoming Derby at the Etihad in the South Stand and ripped apart in front of the away end.

United tour guides would even reference the banner, all sanctioned by the club.

Agree with not stopping to their level and putting up a banner which references them. Struck me it might be amusing to replicate their banner when they removed it - 34 years
Would serve as a reminder to them (and others) what petty twats they were and how things have changed. Would also serve as a reminder to younger Blues that although they’re not a threat now we should always hate them.
Kind of fits with our long-standing, self-deprecating sense of humour too.
But probably a shit idea - just a thought!!

That banner should be an eternal shame on that excuse of a football club. Like the never guilty they are fond of telling everyone of how they do everything the right way, are respected, have history, when in reality they are the total opposite. Scum, never ever forget
