That family stand empty section post half time

I sit in the 2nd and in all my 50 years supporting City not once have I not seen anyone not celebrating a goal...that's bizarre. Never said you was making it up, but I won't be the only one thinking your comment was strange bud. Very few celebrate when city score?!?!
Just come and sit near me next game pal. It's not strange, I'm not strange, I'm telling it like it is. Come and sit in my seat for a while next game then you'll see how strange it is.

I had to read that a few times: I'm fairly sure you mean that you've never seen anyone not celebrate, but you've actually said the opposite with that triple-not...!

Probably a bit to early for my little brain trying to construct a sentence, anyhow thanks for taking the time to read it three times. Hopefully its not made you to late for your "how to become a grammar superior and make better friends" class.

My life will be much better now, hopefully I'll conquer many, many things and go on to be a much better person.

Enjoy your class....and please feel free to pull me for my grammar.

I see two guys sat next to me every game Pete. Mr cardboard cut-out and his mate Paper Mache sit there all game motionless devoid of any sign of passion charisma or even life.

These old boys have been blues donkeys years and I wish to stay in a fuckin' donkey sanctuary instead of coming to games. They don't even eyore when we score! They never cheer and I mean never cheer and I've never heard them sing once. I saw them politely clapping the last game.
I thought of a pair of geriatric seals at the sealife centre clapping for a fish!

Mind you I am in 329 on a value gold. The club should rename it comedy gold if it was funny, but those two really fuckin' wind me up. Next season I'm going mental with the lads in 111.

These guys are at a football game in the west stand, but I think they think they think they are watching some sombre play in the West end : {

Two reasons why our 'atmosphere' is diminishing at games.

Hahaha....brilliant mate, I love the way you've given them names to (or too)...

I'm not saying your wrong, but that's crazy. Support your team by sitting on you hands for 90 mins.

the north stand is way to big for a family stand, what does it hold both the 1st and 2nd tier about 4 - 5 k, I t should be max about 2k for family stand and maybe that's to much. but why wont the dads or mams who have a ticket in that part of the ground sell it back to city if they and kids cannot go, sell it and let city sell it on for whatever it is.
but if the said mums/dads just want to go to the big games and not others then city should know how many games they go to, and if not at lest 12 games, then the season after they wont be able to get an other season card in that stand. they if want to still go then they will have to move some where else, that wont happen thou as little jonnys ticket price will go up as well, and that is why they pick and chose as its cheap and wont lose money because little jonnys ticket is about 100 notes which is nothing really as big games that could be price of 2 games anywhere else in ground to citizens fans

I agree that the passion in the family stand has to be reeled in a bit in and SOME parents are beyond understanding what supporting "City" will ever mean to the majority at the Etihad or at home.

I've sat in most places during the Maine rd era, even the GKelly stand. So It was the toughest thing I've done, trying to curb my language and control my inner rage, when I became a season ticket holder in the family stand.

I went from "oh fuck off ref you nob...." to "ref, ref that's not fair". Initially l did swear and got a few stares from parent's, but learnt to control my vulgarity and numb it down.

I think there's a natural progression for toddlers to teens, eventually those teens will want to be in a singing section nearer the away fans.

I often look across the stands and think I wish the South stand would be a bit noisier, it's embarrassing sometimes being out sung by a few thousand and I think the kids watching learn nothing about pride and what a song or chant can do to boost a team who haven't found their way on the pitch.

The noise has to come from the South stand and the OTHER stands, it's pivotal for future generations sat in the family stand to see a loud, proud and electric atmosphere, something a kid would never forget. Otherwise the passion will slowly drain away as these kids move from child supporter to adult supporter.

So I say this to the other stands...."sing your heads and hearts out, go home with a sore throat and the kids opposite will learn what it means to be a blue".....or sit on your hands and count empty seats and complain about the dull atmosphere whilst pointing to the family stand.

It's up to blues.

Your Southport comment is exactly my point, unused seats mean absolutely nothing, they are not a reflection on a club or its fans. Yet some seem to think that empty seats at our place are.

As much as you try to reason empty seats mean nothing, you seem to miss the point of what happened in 2008 and what we have now and where our club wants to go.
We have without doubt the best owner, manager and team that plays the best football in the world.
I for one appreciate that, empty seats don't.

If you think Maine Road was full on more than a handful of occasions in the 80s then you weren’t there. Luton, Charlton, Chelsea, the 5-1, after that it’s a real struggle.

And no, it makes no difference to my life whatsoever if a fan of another club wants to shriek about a seat not being used. City fans are fans like any other club, I certainly don’t see myself as better than a S****horpe fan, just because our stadium might have fewer spares than theirs.

Plenty of times ive been at Maine Road when its been full to bursting other than what you have quoted. Liverpool several games ( including the 4- 0 fa cup drubbing they gave us ) Bournemouth is another that springs to mind when it was 3-3 was fit to burst with only the Platt Lane end empty with Bournmouth fans. There is plenty more to add to the list ,remember swales diddled the gates for years as well, and those were times when gates across the board were low, hell i even went to Stamford bdrige when there was only 15,000 there and 3 thousand of those were blues. Whats being overlooked here is not the odd empty seat, but how, in our best ever era as a club, apathetic some fans have become. We all yearned for these days back when times were dark, we turned up and sang ourselves hoarse, as a fanbase we were always held as a beacon by other teams for loyalty, humour, and unpredictability and now some of our support seems inderrerant to it all.

I'm just thinking,
maybe a lot of down near me are either chaperoning the nippers or on freebies and are just not that bothered. I've calmed down now :) but for arguably our biggest game yet, people were just staring like giant starey things when they should of been jumping around like a ****** maniac..like me ! :-/

I can easily ignore comments about the club, if they’re not true they don’t bother me.

The sepia tinged nostalgia about Maine Road only gets stronger by the year. It simply wasn’t full that often, neither were many stadiums in the period. This obsession with counting the number of people not attending is a recent thing, there’s regularly 30,40 thousand unused seats at Barcelona without any of the hand wringing

Capacity crowds twice a year over the 80 year period whilst City played at Maine Rd are incorrect , i am not concerned about Barca's empty seats that has no relevance to our club or football in this country ,but our empty seats meaning supporters who want to watch the team and cannot attend our home games does cause concern , and burying your head in the sand may work for you , but i believe the club should be working harder and smarter towards a solution . As for your comments regarding low esteem and sepia tinged nostalgia of our support , they should be treated with the disdain they deserve.

Absolutely mate.

Can anyone enlighten me please as to why that small section of around 30 seats always seems to be empty in the second half when some of us cant get a ticket?

Verses Chelsea there seemed to be a load of blue clad figures in the first half who vanished in the second. Apart from looking awful on TV it is clear these people have no real interest in our club. They looked like a team of some sorts, I'm thinking maybe the WSL teams from the earlier games.

Hopefully the club monitor this site because they really should knock these free tickets on the head.

Club need to reasses that stand, perhaps move them away from sight of the tv cameras and give it to fans who may wanna stir up noise for the team when attacking it
