THAT Shay Given save.

Can't agree, take a look at The Guardian's chalkboards.

I had a look at his stats last weekend and as far as I can remember he only had one stray pass, and 99% of his Goal kicks etc were played short (rather than aiming for the moon).

He's improved a lot then! He used to hit Goal kicks into the stands not too long ago!

Fantastic save.

I just wish he'd stop giving away possession. If he did he would be right up there with Cech and Riera.

The master of giving away possession!
What !
One of the best keepers in the Prem for passing the ball to a team mate.
Unlike Joe last years who's Distribution was a wooooosh upfield

Great save but thought the one on his debut v Boro was better, but he's capable of world class saves. Glad we've got him.

If he was a couple of inches taller he'd be the best keeper in the world. Gigi and Casillas just have that extra couple of inches.....

Amazing reflexes too. The split second reactions of Premier League keepers is just amazing.

I don't get all the raving abou Given. I mean he's a good keeper, but i'm not sure he's "world class".

"That" save today was immense, and he does tend to pull off some great reaction saves; but then again i thought Hart pulled off similar stunning saves... James did too.

I don't think Given comes out quick enough; twice in both our games theres been one of those "cricket moments where both defender and keeper just stop and stare at each other expecting the other to make a commanding decision.

I don't think his distribution is that great either from backpasses and kicks from his hands and goal kicks.

Actually, this does sound like i don't rate Given, i do. He's a very good keeper with some amazing shot stopping abilities.

So, ummm, there we go. ROund in a complete circle!

Good post op and well worth a mention. This was everything from a boys own magazine type save. Real hero stuff, can't wait to see the highlights on it.

I saw Nicky Weaver make the best save I've ever seen at a midweek game against Ipswich under Royle and thought it was superhuman.

I got home and saw the replay and it looked good but nowhere near as good as I thought.

I'd wait until you see a proper replay from a proper angle before declaring it the best ever.

Looked good to me but a bit "Hollywood". Didn't think he was at completely full stretch. Although, as above, I've been
wrong before
Nicky Weavers display v Ipswich was the best goalkeeping display I have ever witnessed.
