Just an interesting letter from Craig Johnston to Blatter with regards how much effect the ball has had on the standard of the world cup

if its serious I'll finish this when I get back from work

That ball is class to kick if the top replica I was using the other day is anything to go by.

it's good that he's written it and sent it, but it's not the best composed letter i've ever read - perhaps he should have had it refined it slightly before publishing/sending. still though, it's nice to get somebody who knows what they're talking about giving some insight. it does seem to have contributed to many shots being off target.

To me it looks too bouncy, too light and swerves all over the place (mainly upwards). Hope it is not going to be rolled out for domestic leagues. Ruined the world cup in terms of number of goals and entertainment to me.

Everyone says that "it's too light", but FIFA have strict guidelines about the weight of a ball. It's the same weight as every other ball.

the problems arise with balls etc when the designers of such things have had no football experience the ball was developed at loughborough university

and even robinho said "for sure who ever designed this ball has never played football"

sums the ball up in a nut shell for me

que the papers blaming city for the state of the ball and ruining the world cup!

Sorry mate, theres an allowable tolerance and this ball is virtually at the bottom end of that tolerance.
Read the article, it makes good sense and enables understanding of the basic 'flaws' in this balls construction.
Its either the ball, or half the best players on the planet suddenly lost their abiility to shoot or failed in their techniques, which were strangely ok when they did'nt try and do anything powerful or long distance.
