That Young Saudi Woman

Im no scholar but i think that women are generally regarded as second citizens in the Muslim faith mate.
It's basically an extreme version of what it used to be like in the UK, where women are basically infantilized. It's not that they consider women less important, it's that they see them as children in need of protecting and not capable of making their own decisions, hence the guardianship bollocks. A friend told me a story of when she was teaching English in New Zealand and a Saudi student was amazed to see that the receptionist was still working despite being heavily pregnant. In Saudi Arabia, it would be unthinkable for a pregnant woman to be working. When you think about it, most of sexism comes from the idea that women are in special need of protection from the big wide world and can't handle things themselves. That's why women weren't allowed to join the army, and why it's important to 'protect' them from sexual predators by controlling what they wear and where they go. It's also why they weren't considered competent enough to own property, vote, or make their own decisions about marriage and reproduction.

I’m not sure it’s a wise move to be showing off her legs and posting pictures of bacon for breakfast. Unless it’s just the way the press have spun it, it seemed to be deliberately provocative.

Good for her, she can do what the hell she wants in Canada as it’s a great country.

I don’t agree with the notion that she should be scared to eat bacon or show off her legs when it’s perfectly legal to do so.

Good on her for not being intimidated.

Freedom is one thing but do you not think it was ill judged? Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s not provocative. I could quite legally park a bacon butty van outside a mosque or synagogue but I wouldn’t do it.

She’s not going to Muslims and being provocative.

They’re going to her. She’s received death threats countless times from the mentalists and is just saying “have a bit of that”.

Going to a mosque and doing it is completely different than just doing it.

What if she was to post a picture of herself throwing a Koran in the bin?
She’s safe now in a free country. I understand that it can’t have been an easy decision to make but I don’t think she’s doing herself any favours.
