The letter to her parents is spot on. But sending her a letter, telling her that you would take it up the arse to still be with her is something you will regret when you look back at the relationship. When the others were talking about getting "a clean break", this isn't it. And when they were telling you to cut all ties with her, that doesn't mean cutting all ties with everyone. Choosing to change your Twitter, Facebook, email etc. is big. If there are statuses that you don't like to look at, get someone else to delete them. If you are following her on Twitter, but don't want to see her, just block her. Don't change EVERYTHING to try and get over her. If you do that, then she knows she will always have power over you. When a girl knows that, she will always want to keep contact, as you are someone who cares and will talk to her. While this is usually a good thing, it's not concerning an ex.
I don't want this to turn into a battle of the sexes thing. Someone said before that you should just not log in for a few weeks/months. I still don't go on Facebook to avoid my ex, and we split in October! I guess the point I'm trying to make is, dont be someone's priority, when you're just their option.
Like Fuzzy said, people on here have been through this. Listen to them :)
