The ‘empty seats’ myth peddled by Liverpool supporters

Why are us blues who go to the match getting upset by getting called names from fans of other clubs who do not go to the match? Forget the media jibes, none of them pay for their own tickets anyway.
No self respecting Scouser who pays for their ticket would criticise our attendances, as they appreciate the the financial obligations needed to attend the match regularly.
Most of the idiots on forums who are criticising us do not contribute a single penny to their clubs.

I find it kind of strange how when we were shit, we were praised for the loyalty of our fan base. We were held up as a shining light in regards to sticking with our team through thick and thin. We were not like the Geordies who were seen as fair weather fans, we were the absolute definition of loyal fans. Now that loyalty has not disappeared, yet because of nothing more than jealousy, opposition fans are trying to find another angle where they can criticise us. We were there when we were shit, we are still there now we are good. Don't worry about no marks who have never seen the insides of their stadiums. They are just glory hunters and their grand kids will probably end up as City fans anyway.

It’s probably too late for moving the main camera positions, let alone where people (family, away, posh) sit, those ships sailed awhile ago. :-(
And they couldn’t all be put into the same side behind main camera positions, so I can’t see a solution:
Away needs to remain on ground level, to avoid missile issues. And separate by some distance from family. And posh wouldn’t sell if near away.
So at least one and probably two of those parts will be in prime camera focussed positions , no matter what.
 
Don't get the issue over empty seats. We have a good 45000 true fans and another 10000 fair weather fans made up of those who pick and choose and those that might be "plastic" so to speak. Liverpool have no more true fans than us. They have a hell of a lot of Irish and Scandinavian fans and cockneys who supported them back when they won things.

FA Cup semi finals should be played outside of Wembley. It makes a mockery of the history of the competition. If that game was played at Villa Park we would have sold it out.
 
What other fans think of City to me is irrelevant it's an afterthought. What that young lad was describing in the video was the death of tribalism in football and we're all guilty to some degree of allowing the happy clapping popcorn eating vampires to take over and take the soul out of the team we support.

That my friend sums everything up. If the Scousers had been in that semi final yesterday and we had been playing Burnley in a mid table league game, there would not be a mention of empty seats if we had any.

See this is the thing mate. We can't have a pop at them for being poor, having no jobs, signing on, sneaking in and so on, then use our working class support who are not the most affluent as an excuse for not selling our tickets. Lets be honest here, there is not much difference between our core support and the Scousers core support. Working class Mancs went round Europe robbing during the summer, just like the Scousers did. City fans also sneaked in, just like the Scousers and the rags for the matter.

When push comes to shove, the local City, United, Liverpool and Everton fans are very similar. The only difference is the added glory hunters that the Rags and Dippers attract.

These seats are generally empty during mid week games (kids have school). Saturday kick off they're full.

So come back in another 10 - 15 years and compare at that stage then, I would be more concerned if we were selling out every week as the people filling those seats would be the fickle people who jump from club to club dependent on success. Important point there. The club must take max advantage of the youngsters turned on to City. However that's done, whether pricing, location, North stand refurb, etc etc, the club needs to encourage these guys and gals to become lifelong blues. Positive action required: don't just sit back and hope.

We went to Burton for the League Cup semifinal, not Wembley, but I agree with your general sentiment.

And to @Stoned Rose, it’s not just buswreckers, who perpetuate this myth; shrek twatted/Facebooked something about it a couple of years or so ago.
 
My mate whose a Liverpool fan but doesn't go, decided to bring his wife and 3 kids on a trip of a lifetime to anfield a couple of years ago. They tickets were arranged to be picked up near the ground but he was left one short. So after a couple of phone calls to try get a ticket he was brought on a motorbike into some shitty housing estate were he entered some house. Picture the scene from a mafia film where there were lads playing cards and women as rough as fuck but on the table there was bundles of cash and hundreds of tickets just waiting to be snapped up by the tourists and daytrippers. The ones that fills seats
