The 2000-01 season

Wasn't it also the season that contained Danny Tiatto scoring a goal after picking up the ball in his own half and running through to score only for it to be disallowed for offside?

Yes it was up at the Riverside. Other low lights from a horrible season included poor performances by Nicky Weaver (as by this point his social activities were starting to drastically influence his game), the horrible bakerlight effect away kit, dreadful football, Joe Royle's almost endless pursuit of Ugo Ehiogu, and I seem to remember an absolute freak of an own goal in the game and at Maine Road against Charlton??

It wasn't an own goal but wasn't it Dunne (i think) belted it against the Charlton forward at around the half way line which lobbed over Weavers head?

You remember it right. I can remember going to Filbert Street needing a win, we won 2-1, it wasn't enough.

Started the season OK 14 points from first 10 games, then collapsed, lost 8 of the next 10 (2 wins). Smashed everton 5-0 in early December, only won 3 after that.

Kancheslskis in a Blue shirt.

I remember getting battered 4-0 first game of the season by Charlton who had come up with us the season before.

A rag I worked with at the time laughed at the fact that we were already bottom of the table and we hadn't even played a premiership team yet.

It is for reasons like that and a thousand others that I am enjoying their current malaise.

It was Royle. Remember George Weah coming and Royle being gutted because Gudjohnson went to Chelsea from Bolton and not us in the summer.

Remember that Weah was number 22, and after his brief spell Richard Dunne took the number 22.

City offered a change of name for anyone who had Weah printed, but could only change it to Dunne iirc?

Love Richard Dunne, but at the time it certainly wasn't the same as having Weah on the back of your shirt!

2002 was better. Last Derby at Maine Rd.

Feed the Goat. Cheers Neville.

Lovely!!

Remember watching the Wanchope hatrick against Sunderland and the following day flying out to LA (like you do) for a 6 day holiday.
Bumped into Peter Barnes and Denis Law at the airport who were going to the far east on some trip or other.
On the Saturday morning I found an internet in the hotel and went to the BBC website and got the score that City had lost to fucking coventry at home, Edghill own goal being one of the goals and apparently he came in for dogs abuse throughout the game.

He did indeed I remember it well. I'm sure this was the game when Craig Bellamy ran him ragged as well. Two fellas sat infront of me on the Kippax came to blow's over Edghill that afternoon.

He was taken off to avoid any more. Saw Nick Leeson after the Coventry game coming out of the Kippax.

City said Weah was going 21, but he had been 22 at AC Milan and Nick Fenton allowed him to have his shirt it was reported. City refunded or replaced Weah 21 shirts, but not when he left. A few Weah 21s could be seen at the Burnley pre-season.

It was an unlucky season, city had good goals disallowed and then went on to lose. Boro away, WHU away, and spurs at home for example. In he latter huckerby hooked in a corner for 1-0, but Keller was blocked by his own defender and it was disallowed for a foul. Rebrov then scored in the last minute of injury time and we lost 0-1. That match led to a bit of trouble outside, and the metal wall outside of he North Stand followed.

We had 2 wins in a row 2-0, then lost five in a row to then win 5-0. Before the 5 losses city were top half after the Soton win, bit CIty never really recovered from the batterings around November.
