Wont be disappointed if kenny topples him though

Its much easier to follow as you get an aerodynamic advantage, so unless you can jump away and get at least quarter of a lap/a whole bend away, the other guy can work far less and follow and then just cruise passed at the end.

The riders try to force the other one to the front, only the last 200m are timed and the one at the front at that point isn't allowed out of the red and black lines on the floor.
Not necessarily faster over the last 200m, as it's easier for the rider to over take the one in front. The one behind has an advantage F1 style.
Not explained that very well but it's the best I can do!

The timing means nothing - that is just so the crowd know how fast the riders are going - its all about who comes first...
I remember Hoy getting beaten by the German Bauge just battered and he jumped out, got about half a lap on Hoy and then it was a straight race, the aerodynamic advantage was reduced as Hoy was too far back and he couldnt catch him, gave up and the German cruised around the last lap. Its a tactic used rarely and by those who know they cant compete any other way.
If you cant get away and try to sprint the following rider will be working 3/4 of the strength of the leader, so will have much less lactic build up and will easily be able to take with a slingshot and more power at the end.
