The 6-1. Was it such a good thing?

The most insane thread title in living memory, this. Shite.

Yes it was for us showing the premiership exacly what we are made of, and for the premiership it showed behind all that media hype rags are just an average side.

Bit strong, it has some logic to it.

There is no logic to it.

why would anyone consider beating your closest rival 6-1 a bad thing.

Teams have sat back at Eastlands all season, result, a home record of 10-0-0. The last two home matches we have been attacked in the first half and have conceded 3 in one half and one to liverpool resulting in two losses.

United as an example sat back second half and we scored two.

Matches are the same all over the world, if you dominate possession, force the opposition onto the back foot more often than not you win the game.

Man United - Played 12, Pts 28, GD +18
Man City - Played 11, Pts 23, GD +14

Thats our respective records since the derby. Of the top 7 sides, they've only played Newcastle (home and away) during this period. We've played Chelsea (away), Arsenal (home), Newcastle (home) and Liverpool (home and away).

Provided we beat Wigan tonight, I reckon thats a cracking return since the 1-6, especially given a lot of the problems we've faced in that time.

Winning THE BIG GAMES gives the players more confidence, so its a great thing IMO not just a good thing.

Losing the last derby may have a bad effect on the players, but hopefully two wins against Wigan & Spurs will lift them up again.

-- Mon Jan 16, 2012 2:54 pm --

6-1 was better marketing for the club than winning the title. There's no money the club could pay for marketing like that, it's the year long job done in a single day.
