The 6-1 was like a bully getting his comeuppance

Recently in "The Daisy Cutter" Lucky Toma had a piece written by a Rag about the current United side and his hopes and fears. On the subject of the "sick Swan" Derby he said something along these lines:

" I was fully expecting the piss takes and the abuse the day after, what I wasn't expecting was the reaction of the numerous City fans who were in no way suprised at the Result, now that was frightening".

That's the real significance of the Day - the complete change in perspective from them.

The last 2 games between us, the two that have really mattered, have been the Cup win and now the 6-1 humping. I don't think the city squad have any fear of Utd anymore after these two huge games, we might naturally have reservations and a bit of fear borne about through some awful losses in the last 2/3 years but that is only natural. However, I reckon the team, Silva, Toure. Kompany and the rest now go onto the pitch expecting to beat United in a match that matters and to me, that is the biggest thing.

I was on the train coming back to Manchester on Friday night and there was a demented old biddy on there across from me, droning on at great volume to the poor people around her, bragging about her daughter who works in London, etc, etc. You know the type.
Next she pipes up about there being no football the next day, her and her husband being season ticket holders at the swamp.
The Cockney couple sat opposite saw their chance and moved in for the kill, winding her up for the last half an hour of the journey, taking the piss about the 6-1. They weren't even City fans but had clearly seen the game and had enough of her, saying things like "United will probably never beat City again" and "Mario Balotelli is the biggest star now, not Rooney after what he's been up to."
Her responses were priceless.
"That Balotelli is a terrible role model for children."
"That game was a fluke, it was their cup final."
She finally shut up and stared out the window in frosty silence when the bloke said "Didn't City beat United in the cup final? No, it was the semi final, I knew it was at Wembley."
The whole of football will revel in their demise.

My husband is a season ticket holder at the swamp and I am at City..

He decided to tell me yesterday that he has suddenly lost all interest in football... its all about money these days he said.

Of course it was never about money with the rags

Having lived with that quiet arrogance that all rag fans have for so many years - the absolute knowledge that they will always win and it is their right to win everything this u-turn is very predictable and quite typical.

all of a sudden Utd fans all over the country will start supporting cricket or rugby....!!!

I was in Nottingham on the day of the derby - watched it in a pib there and every neutral supported City and every neutral was pleased as punch with what we did to them. Their invinicibility has gone forever.....

We're you on your way to an Inspector Clouseau evening by any chance?

Noted the typo but just nearly spat my beer on my laptop at this! Quality!!!!

What is it with these Manushited fans ? My neighbour deliberately avoided me for 2 weeks after derby game .Had to wait for him coming in from work and collar him !! Came out with the usual drivel ( we didnt deserve 6.1- we outplayed you first 20 mins -yawn yawn) Bluemoon are rising Citeh are back isay isay isay!!!!!

For any blue who is a bit bored and has 30 minutes or so to kill, I heartily recommend the derby matchday thread on redcafe. Here's a taster before kick off.

rooney will drop into midfield.leaving danny to lead the line.......hernandez to come on with about 20 mins to go and run riot......simple as.

Chicharito from the bench after 70.minutes could be a fantastic weapon against a tired Man City defence.

I feel strangely relaxed about this match. I'm guessing this is only me though...

Have faith.

Evans should start this one, he has been our best defender in this season.

Stop being so worried about Evans you monkeys, he's been great so far this season and will be great again today.

Big disruption for City to have to change their holding midfielder and gives Rooney a big boost IMO.

Gives us a lot more space.

Looks like city are coming for a draw but hoping their front 3 can sneak one for a cheeky win.

Mr Rooney their world class superstar..

Didnt do a thing to help his team on the day they really needed him, have you noticed that he always goes missing in the big games..

World class, my arse..
