Dismal & Co, look upon this and weep. And learn.

This is the sort of "evidence" that weakens your argument, in my opinion. Regardless of the petty name calling (which is a cheap shot and more than a little tedious), this clip doesn't prove, or even really suggest, an agenda; merely lazy "journalism" based on a glimpse at the league table.

The concerted hatchet job on City tonight, by Herbert, Jackson, Ogden, Ladyman et al makes for much more compelling evidence and should surely be the focal point of any discussion in this thread at the moment.

People throw any perceived slight against the club in here (MOTD running orders, the colour of ribbons on the league trophy, background images on Sunday Supplement etc) and it makes us come across as paranoid loons at times. But there clearly are more important issues, such as the absurd over reaction by the press to the Lampard issue and certain refereeing stats, which hint at a bigger problem. We should be concentrating on those, rather than petty point scoring.

That Herbert, Ogden, Ladyman are in ultra attack mode over the Lampard issue struck me as odd earlier today - especially as the SSN hype machine has barely given it a second glance - so I did wonder if City has pissed them off over something else and this was just payback. Just seen though that Kay of the Times has an exclusive with Frank so it may just be the rest of the Manchester pack pissed off at that and putting the boot in.

Its been a weird one though. Definitely more to it then meets the eye.

The Mail

Manchester City's reputation in tatters after admitting 'mistakes' and misleading fans

Louis van Gaal confident David de Gea will sign new Manchester United contract amid interest from Real Madrid

We'll boo Frank Lampard when he finally gets to the MLS, say New York City FC fans

Manchester United the one realistic destination for Lionel Messi as FFP means only Louis van Gaal's side and Real Madrid could afford Barcelona superstar

Could be wrong but I'm beginning to see a pattern

I agree; it felt a bit like a concerted attack on the club from the Manchester press pack. As you, say SSN (and indeed most of the red tops, as far I can tell), didn't seem that bothered by it.

It will be interesting to see the angle of Kay's piece. Along with Taylor, Winter, Samuel and Wallace he's generally one of the fairer journalists out there.

I've come to the conclusion none of this matters, yes the press print shit, lies, half truths, and non stories about us and yes it does wind me up but as a lot have said, let the football do the talking. Now the press may think they can influence the over all outcome, but in reality a few shitty lines in a paper isn't going to do fuck all. It won't influence our overall image abroad, what do you think had the most impact worldwide, a shit headline about empty seats or that aguerooo moment. Let them write what they write, let us sit back and enjoy

Wrong mate, the thick twats that feel they have to buy a paper these days are indoctrinated just the same as any other easily led sheep, otherwise why would the rags have so many followers, they don't follow them because they kicked the injured out of their club homes after the 58 disaster or the poisoning of the Manchester school children with their rancid meat, they don't push the truth, just propoganda.
No they follow them because these pricks print untruth after lie, and as with the others they are part owned by $ky who have been the real culprits for forcing up transfer fees.
We must get hold of these people and treat them how they deserve to be treated, whats the point of investing all of the money from the UAE if everyone thinks it's tainted. Propoganda caused Hitler to invade Europe, just as it did the Rags, both evil empires on the same level ;-)
Time our PR team got some testicles, as for now our good name outside of our mindset appears to be lower than the rags and that is unforgivable it really is. We need a PR machine with an engine as we ain't getting through, if we were we wouldn't keep seeing this onslaught, it's death by a thousand cuts each week. We will survive of course but these twats don't deserve to feed off us in this manner!

As I've said though we'll do the pr on the pitch, do you think a 10 year old kid reads papers and makes his mind up or sees the beautiful football we play then decides

I think we need a brainstorm on the issue Ric tbh, what we are doing/have done isn't enough obviously, and I know most of us are sick of our wonderful club being dragged through the mud. If we look at $ky for instance they have a interest in most clubs (is this the agenda?) and will bow to the subscriber as expected, however to glorify an empire built on cash from plc money that bought success for 20 years and then vilify the poor relations aspirations despite its investment plans and intent for the region is now bordering on the ridiculous.
Some of the crap about Lampard has been blown way out of proportion and should of been nipped in the bud some time ago. Look at the Mourinio excuse for letting him go, to let the young blood come through, a masterstroke that became an excuse when it bit him on the arse and with Drogba & Terry still in the thick of it was it even newsworthy, yes however it quickly turned into yet another attack on a toothless tiger- City.
We have schooled the rags regularly and played magical football that reached far greater entertainment than they could muster, what do we hear? resentment and then a pin drop.
Something gotta change thats for sure as I believe our fan base would explode if it wasn't for all the negativity, hell the press even sold Hitler at one time.
