The offer of free tickets for anyone with a season card of ticket for the Arsenal game has ensured that Evans and the U21s will walk out for their U21 match with a 5,000 strong crowd at the Academy Stadium

No ive been quite consistent. If I see a poor article or insulting to City im happy to acknowledge that. This falls into this category and it is not surprising for the Sun.

However it hardly proves an agenda or is it unique to our club. The Sun is a poorly written paper from front to back and caters for trashy celebrity nonsense, worksite football banter and the like.

There have been a lot more disgusting articles written by this paper including articles written about clubs many on this thread claim or part of the cartel or receive favourable coverage. Its all round trash which is not exclusive to City.

Example today, Are Villa the most boring team ever?.

Nothing makes a story more than scandal and hype and City are the easy target for both.
We're doing things 'big' and that helps the media add to the hype. Every transfer we make, they choose to use highest valuation (often including wages). Every sale we make, they emphasis the 'loss' we've made on that player.
Then the scandal (that never was) is FFP. They know it's what most other fans believe of us, and they pander to that. They make it out to be something intriguing (read underhand) which sells.

Is it worse than lots of other clubs? I don't think so. Arguably we get a bit more of it only because of our prominence now, not because it's City.

All of that said, some journo's have stopped being journalists, and have become celebrities in their own mind, and the vast majority are supporters of other teams. That is bound to permeate through to their writing and influence their impartiality, and since we're winning things, we're going to be at the blunt end of their rants.

at last you had the Prozac... agree with most of that.... its just that the only way you can hit back (for now*) is dont click/read;/listen...

There are 125 pages in this thread alone which highlight poor or insulting articles about City.

You seem to be fixated about the word "agenda" as has been acknowledged by many , including myself, that there is no Mr Big sitting in a darkened room stroking a white cat out to get City. But these 125 pages have highlighted a consistent and persistent approach by the media to highlight all and any negative aspects about City. The reasons for this are obvious to keep the masses of the other clubs clicking into the websites. That is the agenda that is what they want its just City's purpose to feed that agenda. As an example a negative story about City will get clicks from United fans to feed the City are winning by cheating storyline

To suggest that one story about Villa being a boring side having scored the fewest goals in Premier league history equates to City being mocked because 450 turned up to an U18 game is ridiculous. City have had these types of stories for the past 6 years and many including myself are just highlighting the inequalities as to how City are portrayed I know why but that doesnt make it right but to suggest inequalities dont exist is I believe just plain wrong

If you think the Sun would have written such a sneering article about united in similar circumstances then you are deluded.

The overall lack of scrutiny about their appalling return on investment in the squad is an example of the relatively diffident way they are reported on. If we had spent that sum in the summer and were currently double digit points off the title pace, do you honesty believe it would be covered in such benevolent terms?

When I see a series of articles unequivocally pointing out how much better we operate as a club than them on numerous levels, then I will start to believe we are starting to get a degree of fair coverage from the press. All I've had to listen to for most of my adult life is a constant background noise of how much better united are at running their football business than us: 'the other Manchester club'. Now the opposite is true, the near silence is almost deafening.

Are any of these spineless fuckers going to state the obvious anytime soon? It's probably more than their job's worth, which is the point, really.

This has been going on years, can't remember the last time I bought a paper. As you point out though, it'd be a pretty dumb move to constantly alienate a significant group of your customers, it's just a numbers game. You get the odd article that goes against the grain but in general they will get more positive coverage (though believe Savage has absolutely slaughtered LVG in the Mirror). The more troubling issue for me in terms of City coverage is the seeming underlying racism behind many stories. 'Cheating Arabs' seems to be the subtext of a lot of the stuff on FFPR and this fits the profile of papers like the Sun and Mail.

This is all twitters fault. They get followers and suddenly think that their word must be some sort of gospel.

I think some of that stems from the Qatar World Cup bid fiasco, and some of it because it's Johnny Foreigner 'using' our clubs for their own ends.
To listen to the media, you'd think football in England had been operating as one of the greatest businesses on earth, and 'johnny foreigner' was a hapless investor.

What they ought to be doing is illustrating how pathetic most football clubs are in business terms, and how City are an example of how the business world can transform a club. Admittedly, it's taken a lot of money to do it, but all the same, sharp practice IS necessary for clubs to move up to a new level.

For years, United have been lauded as the example of a club can make money, but in many respects they are like the IBM / Microsoft of this world. There's no denying they're a behemoth who can virtually sit on their arse and still make money, but City are much more like Google, or Apple who are operating with new idea, implementing them rapidly and changing the way the industry works. The media haven't fully realised this yet, for them, they are still thinking the old business ways are the only way... and we're upstarts that will come and go.

The media can't really do stories on that right now, because they don't understand what the hell we are doing. They are still harping on about 'fan bases' and managers, as though success depended on those attributes.
