Don't be surprised if it's in every newspaper tomorrow, though, as these "United are bigger than City" 'surveys' usually are.

Also don't forget that we have the convenience of a club shop on Market Street. I've never shopped in Sports Direct in my life.

To be fair up here in Newcastle they don't shop in Sports Direct as a point of principle - so I was wondering how many Newcastle shirts they reckon are sold in the Toon. They hate Ashley with a passion and would rather take their business elsewhere

i was bantering with mates on group txt and was showing their empty seats after the 1-6 and 5-1 derby ( the clip off the maine road massacre thread ) anyway i was saying how United fans will talk about anything to deflect off them being shit and how as a kid after the 5-1 i went to football the next day taking the piss about 5-1 they were saying " yeah but who scored the best goal " and put you never change do you ? so just as I'm sending that txt after the discussion had turned to us twitting them 6-1 and being champions, one of them sent a txt showing a graphic on shirt sales :) timing was impeccable :)

Matt Harper: So clubs/players moan about not having a winter break, Man City have a few days off and go play a game in Abu Dhabi. Strange.
OK, what do you think about this? Are clubs wrong to play mid-season friendlies abroad? Or is a bit of warm-weather training - perhaps with a practice match attached - the right way to keep players ticking over during January?

The unbiased BBC.

Obviously City are the only club to ever go away for warm weather training.

Don't forget, this is seen by millions of people both in the uk and abroad and you can only guess as to why City are used as an example.

Plus.....aren't the stretford red cocks investigating the possibility of playing an overseas "prestige" friendly to make up some of the lost champions league revenue.

Let's see if that is reported in a similar fashion.

Some dick from a backwater publication thinks our new academy facilities are 'obscene'. These are the opinions of one Steve Carley of the Worcester News, and this is his twitter https://twitter.com/stevecarleyWN/following
IF ever proof was needed of the gulf that exists between football’s haves and have nots, Manchester City have provided it.

By unveiling a £200million training complex, complete with 7,000-capacity stadium, the Premier League champions have underlined their intention to rule the roost both in this country and in Europe for generations to come.

But they have also shown just how detached the leading clubs are from the rest and also how their success is self-perpetuating.

Year after year, the Champions League is populated by the same small group of teams because the financial rewards are so vast.

Consequently, those clubs can afford the best players who, in turn, keep them at Europe’s top table.

With each season, the rich get richer and everyone else is left to feed off the scraps.

Forget financial fair play — there is nothing fair about it. It might be lauded as a way to stop clubs spending beyond their means, but the damage has already been done.

The likes of oil-rich City and Chelsea are so far ahead of the pack that it is impossible to catch up.

Some of the others, like Everton, Tottenham and, this season, Southampton, have flirted with breaking the mould but they cannot sustain it in the long term.

People have been swooning over the extravagance of City’s purpose-built facility but I would argue it is bordering on the obscene.

When a club has been bank-rolled to such an extent, as City certainly have, the element of competition is eroded. It is no longer a level playing field.

This is not a new concept in football but the chasm has been getting increasingly wider in recent years and there is no sign of that trend reversing any time soon.

so if oil rich City didn't happen it would be all the usual suspects but not City ? nice one

And if it were the period where RagDippers dominated European competitions, the article would never have been written.

I wonder if he has a similar article ready on the obscene gap between Buckingham Palace and a council house in East London, or a garden shed and the British Embassy in Paris.

These folk have nothing to grind except a rather predictable axe and they cannot think of anywhere better to bury it than in something with a sky blue tinge!

I bought the long sleeved home shirt from Sports Direct on Monday (need it for a funeral). It was £32.50 in Sports Direct and £60 from our shop on Market St.

I've read that three times. I still don't see your point - and I'm firmly in the Agenda camp!
Clubs do complain. We did go away. We're big news and our name sells stories. Why wouldn't they use us as a starting point for a discussion? It's a point worthy of discussion. We even debated it on Bluemoon. Surely, other fans might have an opinion because if the Champions of England are doing it, everybody might follow suit?

That post on the BBC sports day posted just before 6pm and it has now finished at 7pm with response either because there was no interest or because it was designed to mock City or at least make us look as tho we are trying to have our cake and eat it too.

Why is that ??

Are we the only team away at the moment ? Nope. I don't know them all but Everton are away I believe and I'm sure others are too.

I take your point that we are used as headline makers partly cos we're the champions but this is not the only example of City being used in a negative light on the unbiased BBC.

Whenever there is a random text/tweet triggering a negative debate the example is often us.

The opposite is in effect for other teams who are favoured more by the unbiased BBC.

Have we ever complained about not having a winter break?

If we haven't (and I can't recall it) maybe they could focus on someone who has moaned, and has gone away.

so according to some survey , for every 100 shirts sold in manchester , 95 of them are rags ? Sports Direct have lost all credibility in Newcastle , it appaears they are determined to lose 50% of Manchester as well , would love to know who is in charge of their marketing department , he must be a f*cking genius.
