As I said Zoot Allures straight after this album was refreshing for me.
It’s not one of his albums I’d have on repeat as much as others, but as a snapshot of 1976, it doesn’t place The Tubes too far out on their own.

The thing about Zappa is, depending on what mood you are in there is a go to album.
Hot Rats is absolute classic composition but it’s instrumental bar one song.
Overnite Sensation and Apostrophe are go to albums for me.

Give them a go.
Apostrophe & Zoot Allures are definitely worth a listen.

I've got Joe's Garage and Sheik Yerbouti too.

Plus some live albums and one compilation.

Not listened to the earlier stuff.

I find a lot of the early Mothers stuff hit and miss but they would have been way out there at the time. A lot of theatre in them.
I prefer act 1 of Joe’s Garage to the later act 2 & 3.
If you’re looking for a social commentary of America this is the one for you @FogBlueInSanFran
Edit: Best song of all is on the last act, Watermelons in Easter Hay.
One of Zappa’s best ever in my opinion.
Sheik Yerbouti is different again but great.

I’m on a Zappa bender this afternoon. ( while the missus is out)
One Size Fits All on at the moment.
