The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Well, I didn’t expect that. Never listened to it, but looking at the track list, it should be an interesting listen.

Probably not as interesting for me.

Given I 'hate' Dylan. For all his songwriting ability, which I fully acknowledge, could never get past the singing.

Think this thread is trying to eject me, you all formed some pact or something?

I think you would have been even more surprised by the other one I was considering but hopefully I'll get the chance to nominate that one in the future.

I was hoping that with it not being a 'loved' Dylan album that most wouldn't have heard it.
Nice review by the way - it’s somehow sad and happy at the same time that your dad, a Dylan fan, didn’t like it so much but you did.

I’ve said it before, but these little details that people share when they nominate an album are interesting to read.

Yeah, stand by for Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Garth Brooks :)

On the contrary -- well-thought through slams of records are even more welcome! Of course that means you need to endure them. I am very curious to hear this one.

We've reviewed three Dylan records on the @BlueHammer85 threads (Highway 61 Revisited, Bringin' It All Back Home and Love and Theft) and the one I enjoyed most was the last -- it surprised me (I do like a bit of zydeco). I continue to think he's overrated as a wordsmith and a musician while his singing doesn't really bother me.

We’ll get your Coatigan. Or something like that.

Turned off the football and listening to Dylan now. This his cabaret album?

‘Play it f*ckin loud!’

Bob Dylan live - controversial pick but very happy with this

Obviously obsessed with Dylan but his live stuff has never really appealed to me, in fact the last few decades I’m sure he’s just taking the piss out the audience by being so bad! Almost would admire him more if he admitted that - Although 60’s he was superb and I think this falls 70’s where he had some good moments live despite a poorest period of producing Music in my opinion

The only live Album I bought of his was where he performed with the Grateful Dead in 89 (Dylan & The Dead) … It’s fu*kin awful , not only does Dylan sound awful, lack energy and motivation but it’s recorded terribly - sounds like they recorded it 2 miles from the stage

Anyhow, glad to have my fix of Dylan - it’s been too long and look forward to this

By way, My favourite of his is ‘Blonde on Blonde’ yet to be reviewed …
