Rolling Stone's brand new list of the 50 Greatest Concept Records

Note one that appeared on this thread (Drive-By Truckers).

One of these may very well be my next selection . . . :)
I kinda like a good concept album, not my next choice but maybe one after that is a concept album that I’m pretty certain not many will have heard before.
Think I know your choice off that list but I’ll keep my powder dry.

He got popular before that.

magie Mae which is one of my favvourite songs was #1 simultaneously on both sides of the Atlantic, which was quite a feat in those days.
It's true. But that song was an "oldie" or a "classic" to me (I was 6) vs. a pop radio staple (I was 13) just age-wise. So maybe I am overstating it based on how I remember his music. I do remember you couldn't go anywhere without hearing "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?", but "Maggie May" is so recognizable from the first note too.

2 of the top 50 are in my top 10 records of all time, and another of the bands has a record in my top 10 (but not the one listed which would be too much for this crew. It would engender thread meltdown).

Green Day are America's version of The Jam, which is also the definition of a back-handed compliment. Well-meaning, but if only they could write a great guitar hook more often than they do.

Saw Green Day live this summer - took my daughters but have to say they put on a great show.

Talking of gigs and Bob Dylan live albums, I am off to see him in concert next month as he is playing a theatre gig in Oxford. Doubt it will be a match for Budokan, which I do own but have not played in yonks. Need to play some Dylan before the gig although there's probably not much on the album that is in his current set.

Ah, you young punks ;-)
