The Aleksandar Kolarov appreciation thread

did anyone notice kolarov during the aguero goal celebrations? i'm sure it was him who ran from the bench onto the pitch, slid on his knees and ended up near the penalty box!

seems like the joker of the dressing room, a real character.

Yes, I noticed his reaction to the Aguero goal and thought it was brilliant. This was a player who had started only nine league games, hadn't had a sniff in the title run-in and has been roundly criticised as a defender Yet, he was absolutely thrilled and celebrated like a seven year old opening his favourite pressie on Christmas morning.

Couldn't help comparing his reaction to that of Kolo Toure, who looked distinctly underwhelmed and just stood there with his hands in his pockets...

I don't understand why we don't keep him and make him into a left winger for us. He's crap defensively so we may aswell utilise his attacking qualities - going forward and free kicks!

All the Italian clubs are clamouring for his services as it is a slower and more tactical game over there and I'm sure he'll excel if he chooses to leave.

You've just answered your own question.

His lack of pace is why he would be a poor winger

He is not crap defensively but just excels going forward. As you state Italian clubs are clamouring for his services....are they all after defensively crap left backs then?

He may not be a part of our future plans but anyone who can break bones with his free kicks, deliver up the icy stare of an Eastern European mobster at will and make me laugh in the CityTV videos deserves some consideration at least.

... and I say again, without his late equaliser v Sunderland we would all be very very very (almost suicidal) people.

Thank You Alexander!! Thank you very very much.

The crap defensively myth makes me laugh. He's not crap at all. He's a very good player, and fantastic going forward.

He's not any slower than the majority of players in this league. I wish people would get a grip and give him some credit.

You can't have two of the best in the world for one position, it just isn't possible, not with the power players hold and the moaning they do. Kolarov is the best possible candidate for a 2nd choice left back you could hope for.
