Might give us a short term advantage. We have cash - clubs that need to borrow to fund transfers might see banks unwilling to lend in the short term as they will hoard money to protect themselves until the financial landscape is clearer. Despite the big tv money lots of clubs need huge short term borrowing facilities.

I was thinking the same - may help with Stones

Pretty sure that the Sheikh doesn't keep all of his money in British banks.
Wouldn't surprise me if he made a bomb on the short term fall in Barclays shares - buying them when they fell 35% and selling them 2 hours later when they rebounded. Money makes money always will. He will not be losing any sleep about the figures mentioned and we will still be a major player in this years transfer merry-go-round.

I could be wrong but I don't think our owner has his money tied up in an ISA

Lol. I guess he will hold his wealth in Dirhams and Dollars - in a big tin under his bed. He will convert directly to Euros I guess to complete most deals and where he buys sterling he will be getting lots more for his money - so not a problem.

A rag acquaintance tells me he deals in the souls of children and Urang-utan tears

As far as I am aware, we aren't reliant on Sheik Mansour's money to fund transfers, so whether he has an ISA or a Halifax building society account is inconsequential

Whether funded by the Sheikh or not, all transfers will be paid for by City. I assume all our accounting is in Sterling (the finance, not the other one), therefore any drop against the Euro would mean buying players from European clubs would be more expensive. To mitigate that, the club may have already transferred money into Euros to cover any expected transfer fees (and many of the players' wages will be paid in Euros)

That said, the £ has virtually recovered already.
