Posted this before but I still don't get the club this summer.

We've waited 3 or so years to bring in the best manager in the world.

Now we've got him I'm baffled as to why we've hamstrung him with bizarre pre-season plans and have been so slow in backing him in the transfer market.

A week to go and we'll still be mainly relying on players we got under Hughes and Mancini.

Dont know the answers mate but have had the same concerns all summer...most of our summer signings seem to be part of a "long term" plan, almost as if we happy to use this season just to evaluate an aging squad to see which parts we can use going forward...? I'm sure thats not the whole story but agree we seem to have held back from filling some of the greater needs in the squad. I'm guessing the fact we have 6/7? players on one year deals that we havent been able to sell, has restricted our transfer business.
 
It's simple. Some of the older players are on high wages and financial guarantees if they stay longer. I think we will see a clear-out next summer.

abit over the top mate? I agree we knew we needed at least one centre back but not like we haven't chased? laporte backed out at the last minute? bonnuci declined and stones is close but been negotiating the fee? I personally think we need two top centre backs and a world class midfielder still
