Isn't it more likely that we put world record bids in every year but the media expects it not to have legs?

"City want Messi, offering £100m for the Argentine" sounds like it could be perennially true. Doesn't give much encouragement that it'll pan out, but you never know.

Knowing the way we operate - I dont think this is a case of us lobbing an offer in - I'm sure the club will have an understanding with the player - via his agent - that he is willing to join us. Moreover, i'm sure the agent will be positive about the move on the basis that he stands to make a kings ransom from the move should it go through. Even better if you can keep it in the family and your agent happens to be your father - with a tax debt!

My fault. It was supposed to be a joke that didn't pan out well. Messi is fine. Half my friends rate Messi, half ronaldo. Once you pick you're stuck rooting for the other to fail. I was on the Ronaldo side. It's a dumb joke that carried over is all and doesn't even have any real meaning.

Sorry guys, never knew he was a rag at the time.

The whole point is that the club obviously, for good reason, do not want such names made public. If you actually have some info, it becomes a question of how far you should go in revealing it; especially if it could get your source in the shit.
 
Can't remember where I heard/read/was told this recently, but I understand City have been very stingy with info getting into media hands lately. More so than in the past.

A world record bid could easily escape the notice of those people, I think. And if it has, that would seem to suggest seriousness on the part of the club. Rather than the farcical usual Woodward tactic of "distract idiot supporter base by pretending to be in for Galactico X."

It would seem to be very solid business/marketing/buzz-creation wise to drop a big bombshell along with Pep's unveiling. That also seems to be consistent with how City's management think. Let's hope it comes off, then!

There was that whole debacle at liverpool with the ITK guy Duncan Jenkins(?) making shit up as he went along. Turned out he was right on some stuff and the club went bonkers, making out that stuff like this inflates prices/jeopardises deals
 
I am sure the club knows exactly who the ITK are and the ones who go public on transfer information

I am also certain they use these ITK to send out false information to keep the media and opposition clubs away from what is really going down.

If we have put a world record bid on the table, I am certain that only 5 people at City are ITK ie Sheik,Khaldoon, Ferran, Tixki and Pep.
 
Hmmm they had a definite issue stumping up the cash for Neymar's contract and salary bump with all their other heavy salaries, wonder if some development change this situation...
