The battle for 4th place

Honestly, I've not seen us play consistently as badly as we are doing since Pearce was in charge. I am not at all optimistic we will get anything tomorrow. Quite honestly, it's staggering we are 4th. If we hadn't started the season with 5 straight wins, we'd be half way down the table an deservedly so.

Mathematically we are not, but I'm sure the rags won't win out. The only way they win out is if we don't beat Arsenal. The they'll be motivated. Best Arsenal tmrw, and the rags will end up 6th. As they'll lose to West Ham and probably tie on Tuesday. Lose or tie against Arsenal, and it gives them the motivation to push through.

In my mind if we win tmrw, we are in.
Totally agree mate

Diffence BTW us and Chelsea. First 5 games :)

Reading this thread makes me think that there are many who don't really have the backbone to follow City. Might I suggest they start watching Paris St Germain or Olympiakos
Fuck off with your "Bigger Blue" shit.

If our shiteness was entirely down to lack of effort, then I might draw some comfort from what you say. Yes, we will probably try quite hard tomorrow.

Unfortunately however, I don't think that lack of effort has much to do with how crap we are playing. Of course, it plays a part and Kolarov's strolling about on Wednesday, for example, did us no favours. But that's not why we lost.

We lost, because they way we play usually, is shite. We are too slow, too passive, we pass the ball around pointlessly and endlessly in front of 11 defenders, no-one runs in behind, an then we give the ball away. We then survive, or often not, a fast dynamic and direct break from the opposition, waltzing throw our midfield and through on our goal. We eventually get the ball back, or pick it out of net, and then we repeat our bore-fest tactics until we give the ball away again.

Occasionally, moments of individual brilliance save us. And sometimes if the opposition are crap, we may break through. But if they are not, we rarely do, and we usually succumb to them on the break if they have quality.

We can expect this tomorrow I think. We'll huff and puff but ultimately create very little and they will hurt us at our end.

I am just hoping West Ham will beat the scum.

Even if they do we will have to beat Swansea.

I'm struggling to think of an occasion this season when any of the players except perhaps Joe have produced the goods when the pressure is really on. I'm already preparing myself for MP's post match interview explaining that a point at home against arse is a good result. Sadly, on current form it probably is.

If it wasn't Arsenal tomorrow I'd be more confident- Wenger & his team have had our card marked for a few seasons now & MP has failed miserably to tactically adapt. Barring the first match against them the ridiculous 6-3 which could have been 7-7 then we have been shocking against them in recent years.

Arsenal H PL 6-3
29/03/2014 Arsenal A PL 1-1
10/08/2014 Arsenal N CS 0-3
13/09/2014 Arsenal A PL 2-2
18/01/2015 Arsenal H PL 0-2
21/12/2015 Arsenal A PL 1-2
07/05/2016 Arsenal

Will bump that - cheers
I really hope you do and shove it in my face. Just can't see it happening though. Our record against the top sides is appalling and I expect a match not unlike the derby at home. Utter shite until a small breakthrough from the opposition.
