2nd would be like winning it to me now. Add to that the bonus of Untied finishing outside the top 4. And can I dare suggest we'd get past Real Madrid. If so it would be just shy of an excellent season.

Sagna and clichy also nasri are bigger losses than vinny and sterling coming back,lets hope they are short term this time

Against Newcastle I doubt Clichy or Sagna would have started anyway, and Nasri for Sterling isn't a bad replacement considering our use of the counter recently.

You'd have to say a CL final would mean it was a fantastic season really (so long as we got at least top 4 and thereby stayed in the CL next season.) It's staggering we could end up with such a good outcome having been - let's face it - utter dross for months.

I still stand by my comment that we've been dross for much of the season. Basically we've "got away with it" by (a) being OK in some of the cup games, and thereby have won silverware and progressed in the CL. And (b) our usual league opponents have also been dross. Had Chelsea been their normal selves under Maureen they'd be about 20 points clear by now.

We really need to finish 3rd place now to be sure of CL don't we? The way things are going with Liverpool they could easily win the Europa and bang goes one of Englands CL places. Fourth place would be useless then for us unless we with the CL itself (we live in hope).

It only means that for City. But if we win the CL and qualify that way alongside Liverpool then whoever finishes 4th (if we are 5th or lower) does lose out.

Not really. Sagna and Clichy are our best defenders but we shouldn't need them in the next two league matches.
