But injuries are an excuse and a fairly good one as well. Agree that our league performance was poor anyway and pinpoint the weaknesses of Peller but his supporters will point to good cup form C1 and CL, FA Cup not bad either until the debacle at Chelsea and say he has done well. We need to wait a few weeks to judge him fully.If Arsenal lose tonight. United are guaranteed a top 4 finish if they win their last 4 games, something i think they'll do despite them having to play Leicester and West Ham. That shows you how poor both us and Arsenal have been this season.
Everyone talks of the poor job Mourinho, LVG, Wenger, Martinez have done this season but Pellegrini has been the most underwhelming manager this season imo when you look at the squad he's had at his disposal. Injuries haven't helped but they are not an excuse.

United and Arsenal have both had a lot of injuries as well.
The difference is that they gave some young players a chance who now look like regulars. Iwobi and Rashford both look like very promising players and have been able to kick in from their promising debuts.
On the other hand we gave Kelechi a chance and dropped him for no reason whatsoever. The lad scores a hat trick against Villa and an equaliser against Spurs and then finds himself behind Bony in the pecking order.
United will finish the season knowing that they have a few youngsters who can make a 1st team impact next season. Whereas we are talking about which players are finished.

On the contrary. I think deciding the best team is not as black and white as many on here think it is.
Maybe not, but when you see Yaya in a two with Fernando, or Bony starting or Delph on the wing, we know he's fucking about.

Absolutely not wrong at all to want that, no. And I fully expect it to happen. I'm jusy saying that, if it doesn't, it can still be fun as we are in such a good position as a club.
As for the squad growing old, I think that's partly down to their success & a reluctance to change, prices & ffp & the fact neither manager gave a fuck about promoting kids.
If none of our kids are as good as Kolarov, for example. I bet we could have found a kid somewhere who is & use him& Clichy plus a academy kid to cover that spot. But it's easier just to pick Kolarov. Same as it's easier to pick half fit Sterling or Yaya than change the formation & fit a kid in now.
All the 'squad' players should be kids imo except maybe one or two.
Hopefully Pep will think more like us than Pellers does.

He's not wrong, we play Arsenal and whatever result there Rags would be 4th if they win all and Arsenal lose tonight (with all other Arsenal and our games as wins for both of us). Draw or our win - Arsenal drops, Arsenal win, we drop.

If Arsenal lose tonight all will have 4 games left with United being a point behind Arsenal and 2 behind us. We've got to play Arsenal meaning at least one team is guaranteed to drop 2 points so if they win all their games they'd go ahead of one of us. Unlikely to happen anyway now as Arsenal are already winning in their game in hand.

Every team gets injuries they're not exclusive to us. United have had just as many as us, Arsenal have had plenty, the only team that haven't suffered are Leicester. The Champs league progression has prevented the media and probably some fans too from jumping on this. If/when we go out they'll be all over it and rightly so. Look at the stick LVG gets in the media (again rightly so given the money he has spent) but he's done a better job with the players at his disposal than Pellegrini has.

Liverpool are on a run of 6 wins in 8. They are the form team currently. If we dont win the next two, that Arsenal game is going to be tense

Spot on MillwallAV, if Liverpool continue on their run they could end up with 69 points, beat Stoke and Swansea and get a point from Saints and the Arsenal and we will have 69 and should do them on gd.
However we are then relying on United dropping points v Leicester or WHU !!
Got to win the next 2 as you say.

We haven't beaten anyone in the top 8 FFS. I think we might finish 7th.
