The battle for 4th place

I am really sad seeing us drop points vs Geordies :/ If Pep would have been our manager, he would have torn into each players at half time for their disastrous passing. I am more concerned about top 4 than CL tbh.

I hope Silva or Nasri come back on Sat to support KDB and Aguero.

the biggest problem for me was not playing full team and at full strength at newcastle. FFS, win that game and you then have home game vs Stoke without pressure and there you can rest players, specially as it is closer to CL one. Newcastle was so fucking vital game on many fronts I just can't believe we had such lazy approach to it. If we won that we could prepare for Stoke and Madrid relaxed and now is all except relaxed if they care a bit.
much too sensible for our pathetic manager.

we should have appointed rafa as caretaker the day pep was confirmed. pellers is quite obviously trying to harm us. no other reasonable explanation for his selections and tactics.

Liverpool will start to rest players. The fact is they have to hope three teams have disasters. There best hope of Champions League is the Europa League

I think we'll just about sneak fourth from Liverpool, personally. They're on a bit of a roll and they look good for next season but I think their charge will be a little late. We need three wins to guarantee 4th spot but Southampton away and Arsenal at home are sandwiched by the Madrid games. Our brilliant run in the Champions' League might well cost us a shot at the big time next season if we lose both of those games.

It shouldn't and needn't. But for weeks now it's been blindingly obvious and to be honest, understandable, that PellegrinI does not give a toss about the league. Why should he? We aren't going to win it and whether we are in the CL next season is no concern to him. If he can make the CL final or even fluke winning it, his personal objectives are best satisfied.

But I am surprised our management team have not recognised this risk. We simply cannot drop out of the CL places, it would be a catastrophe.

If the hard shoulder shitter (thankyou so much for that) was still alive and they weren't just wheeling out a red nosed robot every Saturday, he'd be saying squeaky bum time.

Unreal that Guardiola might take over a club in the EL. I doubt he was really thinking about a possible scenario like that.
Well it is now I am really scared of the Arsenal game given what the fuck we really did against top8 teams this season.

The 5 home losses came against Leicester, Spurs, WHU, MU, Liverpool so every club in top6. Only Arsenal we didnt play yet but wouldnt be a surprise after the listed losses to lose again a big game.
I mean they did show earlier against us that they can sit back be tighter than usually they are, work hard off the ball, and use killer counters.

i really hope Leicester and WHU do us a favour against MU.

We really need others to fuck it up themselves, as with Pelle we just arent good enough to do it for ourselves.

Another thing is CL money, half of market pool which could be huge for English clubs given the bt deal is given based on which position you get into the CL.
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 40-30-20-10%.
Leicester gonna take a big chunk of it as a start, 4x more than the 4th placed team. This is totally irrelevant how Leicester actually will do in CL.

Not mentioning the difference between instant CL group stage and that awful playoff round which is just risking the whole CL and fucking up the pre season a bit.

They've got three tough games actually. Norwich are fighting at the bottom so that won't be easy. You may aswell give them three points agaisnt Bournemouth.

We really do need to best Stoke.
The rags next league game is Leicester at the swamp.
We won't get a better chance to open up a five point gap.
We play Southampton away on the same day so no easy task.
If we lose on Saturday we really do seriously risk blowing it.

However with the Madrid game on Tuesday I expect 'rotation' to be the order of the day
and that could be a high risk strategy to say the least.

Shite at Newcastle, one of the reasons pelly is going, I know the players have to do it, but our results when we play the bottom teams is a disgrace, MOTIVATION, bet Mr Klopp would have got us a result , and we might have scored a goal at villa. Vital we win Saturday.

I bet I would have got us a result, there's more motivation in an old peoples home than pellegrini.

FFS I'm looking at our run in vs. everyone else we could wear out anyone left but we could also sleepwalk and shit the bed
This is the last run in for a good portion of players, end of an era really.
It'd be great to see them win out one more time.
Come on boys !!!!!
One last time mates
