The battle for 4th place

As predicted by more than a few of us it went exactly to plan.

MP will now blame everyone except the real culprits.

But the truth is he should have gone as soon as top 4 was in jeopardy and that decision is now one more defeat away from killing next season.

Seriously so - in terms of signings, no CL, Thursday nights compromising league success hopes too.

We knew weeks ago it could come to this. So we should not be acting surprised.

That game was tossed away today. Our first team would have at least got a draw.

But MP wanted a Champions League Semi Final victory to get him a pick of jobs next. And that has dominated his thinking in the past few weeks.

Which really should never have been allowed.
 
As Kupest said, if we lose next week the game between the rags and West Ham is our ultimate nightmare scenario as both could overtake us with a win.

I can't believe we have allowed it to get to a situation where we now need to beat Arsenal to get top 4.

It's fucking shameful from Pellegrini.

He almost gave them that game before kick off.
 
i can see utd wining 3 out of their last 4 (norwich, bournemouth and and palace away last game of the season)...west ham will cause them a lot of problems so hopefully they will drop points there

we have arsenal who we will do well to get a draw against and swansea last home game......

we need a favour from Norwich now (this is where MP has led us to - asking for a favour from Norwich!!!!!!!)

MP is no better at managing this team than the average bloke not he terraces.......he is a charlatan/fraud and i cannot wait to see the back of him along with quite a few players (Navas, Kolorov, delph bony, to name the main culprits)

this is going to be highly unpopular but he doesn't deserve to win the CL with the way we are playing and have done all season....just like Chelsea when they last won it....they didn't deserve it and neither does MP
 
He gives us all a glimmer in certain games that maybe hes changing his stuborn ways by choosing the correct team & or formation. Then days like this happen Again!!!

That doesn't take away from the shit today and by all means, vent but top 4 is nailed on.
 
I don't think the case is he sacrificing the PL for CL is even up for debate, without even looking at the Starting 11 if your 3-1 down with Sergio Aquero on the bench and you don't bring him you don't give a fuck about the league

The team that played today will never play again.

Kompany, De Bruyne, Aguero, Clichy, Sagna etc will all play in the remaining games if fit.

The team that played today wouldn't win both those games but a team with those players in it has a great chance.

Do you think the Rags will win every game?

I dont and we might not beat both Arsenal and Swansea but right now, that 4 point gap, as good as 5 with GD+/- is huge.

If you made me bet on United winning their next 3 or us winning our next 2 my money would be on United
I really feel they aren't playing that bad anymore and I think they WILL win their last 3
Not being mr doom and gloom I promise I just feel they will, esp as 2 of those are Norwich and Bouremouth

You may well be right and i think were still favourites...Just. But that's about as blasé as our outgoing manager's team selections at times lol.
 
Having watched Utd today, they want it more than we do and in particular their manager does.

The rags have a game in hand so the 4 point gap means nothing much,they have norwich and we have arses,i know who will be winning that round

Not every game but I see them winning 2 out of their next 3 easily while I see us struggling with both our games. They are playing far better than we currently are and with Pellegrini you just don't know what team selection or tactics we are going to get. I admire your optimism but to say it's nailed on it a bit much.

Norwich are relegation battling. Arsenal dropped points to Sunderland & struggled against Norwich, we dropped points to both Norwich & Newcastle recently. United lost to Norwich at home.

Stop being so pessimistic, they could easily drop points in that match. I won't claim we could easily beat Arsenal though, think we're relying on United messing up more than us rather than us getting the points needed.
 
Hope we can get sneak a win at Madrid. Last thing we need is them running us ragged and going into the Arsenal game knackered and bruised big week for us!

i think the only one they won't win is west ham...they will beat the rest ...norwich are shit, bournemouth are on the beach.

they were a lot better today against leicester than we were and are playing better than we are at present

you are also ignoring the factor of what the semifinal could do to this team - the manager has put all his eggs in one basket....which will be int he minds of the players as well...get knockd out on wednesday and their is a strong possibility that their heads will drop completely and i don't trust MP is good enough to pull them out of that.....

if we somehow get through to the final then it could make it even harder for us in terms of league performances as we could well see two more shit displays like we have just see today (to go with many other shit displays we have seen all season due to failure to prepare,, tactical stubbornness and complete predictability of how MP will set up the team)

2 draws from Arsenal & Swansea gives us a 7pt lead over the rags and 8 on West Ham.

Our GD can & will play a major part. Will the rags win all 3 games? I don't think the will West Ham (although they beat them in Cup) will be tough hopefully they draw. Norwich won't be a stroll either.

We'll get a point off Arsenal and a win at Swansea so for me we'll do it.
