The best Atmosphere since we moved?

Brilliant last night, absolutely brilliant. I'll always love Maine Road but the Etihad is now starting to feel like home and nights like last night match anything Maine Road provided. It's an intimidating stadium when all 4 sides combine and let's face it incredible fun for us. We have to keep this going.

i couldnt hear anything from the crowd all game watching it on the telly.

You have it on mute?! Pretty much the one constant I could hear throughout the match was City lads in great voice, was well impressive. Also got a good chuckle in pretty much the only lull in the noise after we went 0-1 down and the commentator wasted no time in getting in a comment about how we were all quiet and anxious. Pretty sure he didn't actually finish before it roared up again.

4-1 in the derby was immense...... Saw the first half in Frankfurt airport last night and had a horrible hour then thinking I'd have to leave the phone off and the car radio and watch at home...... Getting off the plane a guy let the score slip....... Fabulous!

Not sure I'd have coped too well at 0-1...... The derby will be immense if we're slightly in front......

fantastic atmosphere, thats more like it, from the word go we were singing away. I stand at the back of south stand lower tier, the singers were spread front to back, fantastic.. Several bluemoon chants also went round the ground... Chelsea fans must have wonderd what hit them, our players must have felt so good.
Lets have everygame like this though, its been a bit quiet lately. Shame we couldnt have got a poznan going to !
laughed all the way out of the ground thinking of the madness song on full time !

I think the time of day makes a huge difference on the evening and early evening kick offs the atmosphere is always better.

I had this discussion last night leaving the stadium. We both thought the atmosphere last night was excellent, even before we scored but especially so once we'd equalised.

One thing we also spoke about was this "Maine Road Atmosphere" myth. Sure, Maine Road was great and when the old standing Kippax was in full voice it was amazing, but you can't tell me that our stadium now isn't better than the latter years of Maine Road. It might take a bit to really get it going, but that's because it's bigger by 15000 or so. Also, since we moved, we've not really had a great deal on the pitch to make it fulfill it's potential. With games like Lisbon second half and last night, I think it proved that if the team perform and the fans also do their bit, the Etihad is far far better than Maine Road ever was.
Not ever. I remember my Dad taking me in the Kippax and I had to put my hands over my ears because it was deafening! But I agree, Maine Road after 1994 was shit.

i was 11 when we left maine road but i always have a strong memory of it being a decent atmosphere, maybe it's just the 3-1 in the last season there that's clouding most of the other games.

The best was Hamburg......just. But win at Stoke and the atmosphere at the next few home games will make the Hamburg game look like a library.
