I'd agree with a lot of things on that list, although most are a matter of personal taste. I'd also throw into the bargain that we have one of, if not THE, most restrained police forces in the world. Police brutality is still very commonplace even in other western countries. This country is definitely one of the most civilised even if it isn't close to being the best. We also used to have one of the best legal systems in the world, although the tories are currently in the process of destroying it so perhaps it was right to leave it off the list.Some of the things in the list are very iffy though. Low crime. Not really, by western standards, we're bang average. Great opportunities? Not at all, along with the United States, Britain has the least amount of social mobility in the western world. Benefits, we're below average in the western world. The comparisons you make with those only hold true outside the western world. Additionally, our political system and our democracy are a fucking joke.

I was taking issue with someone who took issue with a poster for the audacity of having an opinion on the government of the country he actually lives in.
I don't give a fuck who lives where, or why, although the more I read from basket cases like JULES, the happier I am that they did fuck off abroad.

I've never felt so English as I do living in a foreign country. Even Scottish people seem normal compared to the locals.

I stand reasonably tall at 6 ft thank you. I should be fair to the tories actually. The lovely Nigel Evans, who, to my knowledge, is my closest tory bastard MP, seems to have realised how fucking unjust the changes to legal aid have been. The poor are restricted to legal aid rates which fall far short of those necessary, and those with disposable incomes of £37,500 can't claim a penny and so a big trial can financially ruin them even if found not guilty. Nigel Evans just witnessed this first hand and says his savings has been wiped out. I won't weep for him considering he voted for them but I do think it's so very typically tory. Know the price of everything and the value of nothing. We had one of the fairest justice systems in the world, now we don't, to save a couple of hundred million.
