The best "long" songs

thinking of it, as I still play them, every Genesis song 10 minutes plus is pretty much a compositional Progressive masterwork.
and most of the ones 1-9:59 minute ones aren't bad either.
Edit: Wife and I are going to see Steve Hackett next month. set list is all of "Selling England by the Pound" and most of "Spectral Mornings" for it's anniv. and some others. the Genesis ones won't be like glory years but close efforts as his shows musicianship and sound is very good. this will be the third time seeing him.
Lucky you.

They made some incredible Songs, that quite a lot of people 'familiar' with Genesis wouldn't recognize.

Suppers ready, most of the lamb album, musical box etc etc are all great listens.

I have to thank my dad. I was raised with Genesis...I was born in 73, by which time most of the truly great stuff had been released.

In regards to the thread title, it is actually hard to find a truly great long song, that isn’t just a great tune padded out with guitar solos or a prog rock concept piece or just an instrumental without lyrics.

Don’t get me wrong I love all of that stuff and everything posted on here. My own stuff falls into those categories too.

It’s hard to find an actual song that long though. I can think of a few slightly under the 10 mins.
