The bloke with the guitar

Yes it is cringeworthy but we should drown the fucker out with our own singing then. I've just posted about a lack of atmosphere and as bad as all the pre-match sanitised atmosphere is we should be doing something about it ourselves. There is no excuse after his singing has stopped lets make some fucking noise.
Start of the match last night it was actually fairly decent. The goal knocked a lot of people back though.

It should be firing them up FFS, that's when the team needs a bit of noise.

Couldn't agree more. There's a fundamental problem at the moment: people won't make noise unless it's all going well on the pitch. To put it another way, they wait until they're being entertained. Not what it's all about. Me and the people around me were trying to get it going but a lot weren't having it. But that's not really what I'm getting at with this thread. I just think that city's attempts to create an atmosphere wildly miss the point and only end up making it worse.

1. I don't get the over obsession the club has with Blue Moon. It's on when this guy sings it and nobody wants him to, it's on right before kick off, all that "Blue Moon Rising" stuff (doesn't even make sense!) seen much more than "Pride In Battle", the lights out and a Moon shone on the East Stand, "Moonchester" and "Moonbeam", "BLUE MOON" the words and a visual blue Moon is being used for the tifo before the Barcelona game, Moon this, Moon that.....I know this is slightly ironic as i come and post of "bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk" but it's not even one of our best songs, it has nowt to do with our motto, it has nowt to do with Manchester or the club outside it being a bit of a battle cry when we're playing well and it's nowhere near as much of the 'club song' as "The Boys In Blue" is and should be.

2. Nobody joins in nor applauds the guy when he's singing and done singing. Nobody cares. Every week one of us says to the others where i sit "i wish they'd fuck this shit off!"

Big game, so crowd were a bit more nervous. Add to that the deflation we were all feeling after hearing that Ferna was out for 3-4 weeks. Plus a Monday night, everyone is knackered after rushing to the ground after work.

But I do agree, we need to try to back them all the time, especially when we're losing.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. It would come as no surprise to me if at some point the club buy the rights to the song Blue Moon. I honestly think it's overused and dumbs down anything else. I wouldn't mind as much but its not very intimidating or rabble rousing and its the same fucking verse over and over again. The uptempo version we used to sing in the stands is about 'as good as it gets' (great film by the way).

I think the PR team at the club are using this as a something to signify us with and use globally in the bigger picture, in the same way you use a company logo. It's inoffensive, instantly recognisable, it has a significance worldwide and can be used easily alongside advertising, merchandise etc. and appeals across the board to all age generations.

No need to thank me.

We join in and last night we were waving our scarves as well. And we always applaud him. At least the lad is trying and also the club did a survey via City Voice(?) didn't they and that was what people appeared to want. I would much prefer the Boys in Blue but am prepared to go along with Blue Moon.

Nope heard him come on whilst finishing my pint, and everyone on the concourse took shorter sips so they didnt have to go up untill he had gone! Cringe worthy shite

You mean guitarthur????

The toursists fucking love him so what's the problem!!!!

Personally I'm with the majority...Shite!

some of his songs can be heard here https://guitarthur.bandpage.com/

some clever lyrics but how he has got a regular spot on match days is beyond me, he can be heard every week for fucks sake. He's a joke performer to be honest, great for kids parties but not what I want to hear minutes before a big game like last night, when trying to create an intimidating atmosphere and making the Chelsea fans feel unwelcome as possible. I wonder what they must have been thinking of it all.
