I try to give the lesser obvious ones another listen so I am still making informed decisions especially against 'new' opponents (I don't need to re- listen to Kashmir / Good vibrations etc al as they are engraved into my head).

I like this output from Hendrix - an absolute master of his instrument recognising that less can be more (some folks will be rolling their eyes at this as it's a usual observation/ criticism of many artists in the other music threads we have). ;-)

This is what separates him even from others like Rory and the likes who as much as I love him does overplay.............

Out of curiosity, are people giving slightly lesser known ones another listen (Morrissey excluded) or working from memory from previous rounds?

I wouldn't believe for a second that all songs are even listened to! Some ,no doubt are "I've heard of that, never even heard of the other band, let alone song, so vote decided"
I have never (knowingly) heard an Alphaville song before, find Hendrix decent, not outstanding....Alphaville just.
Mad Eyed Screamer is my least favourite poster....he made me remove my laces, and any sharp object, before listening to a Morrissey song ;(

Save this one, which was an everywhere-earworm in my youth, I don’t know that I’d be conscious of another of Alphaville’s songs, but I am sure somewhere along the line, if I listened to their catalog, something would jar my memory. Anyhow, I’m not really a huge Hendrix fan either — respect and admiration, yes, but I don’t listen to his tunes for pleasure. In this case I’m voting Hendrix as if I’m part of PGMOL, to help partially undo the wrong done to “classic rock” when Kashmir was red-carded in the Bush match.

Lol, I've just listened to the video that BH posted. I suspect most people voting for Hendrix have been doing so on the basis they're already familiar with the song because had any of us taken the time to actually play it we'd have realised it's not even Hendrix. Has BH gone Darren England on this or has he been on the wind up?

I clicked on track because certain Hendrix tracks aren't available to listen to on YouTube for some strange reason. And i clicked on and that's a strange version. I'm not sure if it's Jimi or a bad cover version.
