The Bluemoon Song Cup 2023

In your opinion of course. Many don’t hold the same. A song without chorus about a classic book written by an unknown eighteen year old is still critically acclaimed by many. Just be clear, what definition of pap are you applying to this song 1) soft food 2) worthless) 3) a woman’s breast
Not sure any of them fit mate.

I remember when she hit the TOTP screen and thinking Wow! She’s weird. And so is her voice. I wasn’t overly impressed tbh Sadds and never have been since with that song.
Kate herself, however obviously had something and she grew on me more and more as she got older and progressed.

Massive Attack were so different to what I was listening to but I was instantly drawn to them and this song in particular.
It really is epic and a classic in my opinion. Not saying Wuthering Heights isn’t, just doesn’t hit the spot with me.

Sorry Sadds. Massive Attack for me.

I don't have an issue with her voice, here or later in her career. But "Wuthering Heights" is as inventive as a Barry Manilow song musically. Not to dis him, or her even, but it's pap.

Agree, however I do prefer it to Massive Attack.....decent opening, threatening to be a great song, goes nowhere except becoming boring, in fact coma inducing.

Terrible start to 1978 this shite getting to number one.
Massive attack is alright but I liked the video far better than the song,so it gets my vote.

Unfinished Sympathy sounds as fresh as it did in 91. Great music with even greater lyrics that hit you in the heart, well it did and still does with me.

I don't disagree at all that there's worse out there. Or even that there's worse in this competition. But she does seem to be ever present and I didn't like her back in her day and I don't like her now. You know how some people just give you (what the kids refer to as) the ick? Well she's in that category for me.
