Poor decision on the cards there in the Bellew fight. Poor fight also. Bellew made to look quite average.

Chilemba won it for me, landed the cleaner shots on the counter all night. He looked a class above the over rated Bellew.

On reflection; draw is probably fair. Chilemba started too slow. Not sure how one of the judges had Chilemba by 4 rounds though.

Definitely a poor contest and Bellew was made to look distinctly mediocre.

Donaire v Rigo would be a classic fight I think it has the potential to be the fight of the year. I love the Super Bamtamweight division. They could do a Super 6 out of that division by far the most competitive division I have seen and all these fighters are by far the best collection I have seen in 1 division.
I was lucky to see Rigondeaux live in action when he blitz Willie Casey in 1 round to win the title. An amazing Am and a great boxer. Donaire has power and boxing ability to troble any fighter. IF Rigondeaux can get it to a am type fight and just box him he has every chance of winning the fight. Its such a 50-50 fight for me as you can make a case for the 2 fighters. I wont be about so will have to try and get it on the net on Sunday IF I cant find somewhere to watch it live.
Just look at that division and its packed with dangerous fighters all the way down it to be honest the hardest division in the world for me to be honest. I would be looking at the betting but I aint too confident on picking a winner this weekend. As it is the most evenly matched fight going on for me.

Just heard that Matt Macklin will be fighting Gennady Golovkin for the WBA Title. A huge fight for Macklin and OMG he is in with a banger. 26 wins with 23 kos from 26 fights some record. Macklin will be doing well to stay on his feet but his last fight he looked good. Not yet seen Golovkin tagged or hurt badly just dont think Macklin has the power to do that to Golovkin. Some good fights made so far. For British / Irish fighters made so far. I love boxing when it gets like this.

I'm lucky I pay the plus1hd site and they record it and leave it on demand so you can watch it first thing in the morning.

I can see Rigondeaux fighting defensively and taking it the distance but will lose on points. He doesn't seem to have picked up the knack of impressing the crowd or judges in his 11 fights.

This should be a great fight, I re-watched Golovkin v Rosado the other week and GGG was brutal.

I rate Macklin highly but sadly he is up against it. He isnt ducking anyone and since his move to Lui De Bella he is getting the chances he deserves in the US to make money. He is living off his Irish roots and will make some big money. Hell if he does win the title it will open up big pay days for Macklin both in the US and UK and Ireland with fights with Lee and Barker all future defences if needed.

Rigo is backed by a Irish team in Gary Hyde and his media / publist is another Irish bloke who has been tracking his training in the gyms. So what I am hearing is Rigo is bang on form. Also they think he has many levels he can go up. They hate him not being rated by the professional fight jurnos so this is his time to show the pro world what he is about.

You and me both. I am so gutted forgot to place the bet on Rigo to win on Points. I can see Rigo v Marnes next and Rigo eventually unifing the division. Just a couple of fights as a pro and you can now put him in the top 10 pound for pound fighters if not the top 5 after last nights win. Donaire always had power but the boxer often gives a masterclass against bangers and this was the case last night.

There were 3 Cuban fighters based in Ireland a few years ago. Alexei Collado is now fighting in the US after 2 years out of the ring sadly as fighting in Ireland dried up but was looking a decent fighter to watch at Super Bamtamweight.
Luis Garcia in the same boat as Collado but he cant seem to get a fight he hasnt boxed in over 2 years or more but was looking a decent fighter.
Mike Perez same as the other 2 hasnt boxed in nearly 2 years won Prize fighter unbeaten heavyweight who just cant seem to get a fight it seems. I thought Eddie Hearn would of took him on after Prizefighter but that didnt happen. Only 27 or 28 I think but needs to get back regular fighting. These 3 Cubans they thought would of went far but its so hard to get these lads fights.

Rigondeaux the money on him is gone. After the Donaire fight the bookies wont give you those odds again. He will be slashed big time. Love watching a boxer like Rigo taking apart a banger like Donaire. Its the joy of boxing for me. IF your good at boxing and moving like Rigo and combinations then you can go a long way.

Been reading some disturbing stuff that I didn't know about regarding the ref Laurence Cole - don't have any bets on this one.

I thought the Rigo/Donaire fight was pretty awful myself. I can appreciate a great boxer and it was impressive to see a genuine top 5 p4p fighter get outclassed in every single way, but 95% of that fight was inaction. Rigo was throwing 1-2's here and there before literally running away at times.

There's making people miss (Whitaker, Mayweather etc) and there's hitting and running. In one of the rounds I'm sure Rigo only landed about 3 punches, if that.

It's nothing to do with being a purist/non-purist. You have to engage at times. On the rare occasions that a fight broke out, Rigo was still beating Donaire to the punch and hurting him, so it's not as if that was the only route Rigo could've took to win the fight.

I'd compare it to one of those fights you see in the early rounds at the olympics. obvious talent on show, not much in the way of getting you out of your seat.

Its like Wlad Klitschcko at times you just wont see him going toe to toe with any fighter as his chin isnt the greatest. Just safety first and get the win and move onto the next fight. I would love to see Rigo fight Marnes next. It also wouldnt shock me if Rigo came back to Ireland to fight Frampton done it already and could do it again. Think Carl should avoid Rigo for some time as his boxing skills alone will be too much so far for Carl. I said it before and will say it again the Super Bamtamweight division is the best division in boxing for me. I would love to see a Super 6 being done in this division.

Wlad never runs away from people though does he? He's always jabbing someone's head off, if the opponent can't get inside his jab then that's a conundrum that they need to solve. I suppose people might say the same about Rigo running about the ring but I don't think it's the same, Wlad is outBOXING someone, Rigo is just running out of range.

Did you not think that even when they exchanged, Rigo was by a mile the first to the punch and the one landing the cleaner, harder shots? I don't see why he couldn't just stay in the pocket and engage more often, he could've stopped Donaire if he'd wanted.

I was just massively dissappointed. I was genuinely excited for it, thought it was gonna be a potential FOTY like many did, the top 2 fighters in the division matching up, then they produce that.

A lot of people that watched that on HBO would've been put off watching Rigo after that.

At the same time I don't think HBO will want him fighting in Ireland again any time soon.

Think he'll get the Mares fight yeah, Donaire said he wants to move up anyway cos he's struggling to make the weight.

Maybe he could of traded more with Donaire I thought the same but I kinda of knew after the Cordoba fight his chin there is a slight concern. Donaire knocked him down in round 9 or 10 I think it was. So he always had that shot that could troble Rigo no doubting it. I just always liked to see a pure boxer verus a banger and to see how the boxer does and to see how the banger tries and cut down the ring to get off his big shots.

I know that HBO wont want him fighting in Ireland if they put Rigo in with the next big banger of the division and see how he gets on. They could have him fighting every single banger in the division and I wouldnt be shocked if Rigo was to beat them all handy. I just think he is what boxing is about pure skill. American fight fans at times are fucking stupid. Yes it would be great to see that in every fight that someone will win by KO but sadly that aint the case and Rigo showed the art of boxing for the majority of the fight. Hit and dont get hit.
