The Boxing thread

just seen the build up stuff from today on youtube.

Froch is such a knob.
Now he's brought in his fat brother to do his talking for him.
Pathetic.

Groves will be taking those title home with him...

Wouldn't have thought a man who's had 10 world title fights needs anyone to do his talking for him

watch him mumble and stumble his way through confrontations and face-offs with Groves and it might change your thinking...

He conducts himself with the decorum you'd expect from a man of his stature which is hard to do when you're dealing with a grown man acting like a schoolboy

Groves is acting like a schoolboy to get under Frochs skin and Froch is cracking under the pressure of having nothing to retort with (again).
Hence his brother chirping up this time...

You keep talking like Froch has something to prove. The first fight vs Groves was a fuck up of a decision and we will never know what would happen. Groves then went and fucked his purse up for this rematch acting like a child by trying to get the last fight classed as a non result despite the board of control from moment 1 saying they backed the referees decision.
Froch clearly underestimated Groves last time and was punished for it, it wont happen again

agreed the first fight was a fuck up of a decision.

I don't agree Groves has fucked up his purse in this second fight. I reckon he'll be getting paid quite handsomely in the rematch.
Everything Groves did after the fight kept the fight alive and made it more intriguing.

Groves completely out boxed Froch in the first fight, I reckon he'll dance around him again in the second fight...

Well he is lucky it will generate crazy interest because he is only entitled to mandatory challenger purse after turning down the initial rematch offer chasing the non decision which means he will still earn a fair bit less, so he did fuck it up because he was told the decision would never be overturned.
There was always going to be a rematch regardless of how much Groves cried about it as its what the public wanted to see and Froch would of done the one thing he has never done and run away from a fight.
I dont remember Groves dancing to well when Froch was hitting him freely in the last couple of rounds but this fight will be very interesting non the less

I really like Froch but the more i see his antics including that muppet of a brother the more i dislike him. Groves really suprised Froch in the first fight and i just wonder without that in the second fight if he wil lhave enough. Can't wait for it though, should be a cracker and a top night out for anyone lucky enough to be there.

From what I seen of the interviews yesterday Froch came out and said he took Groves lightly. Also said after time off he came back into the gym and training after Xmas knowing that he has a point to prove. Which for Groves can be a big big problem. Saying that Groves knows he has the power to put Froch down so he is buzzing. He knows deep down he had Froch beaten and the stoppage was a poor decesion. I guess with everything going on they all know that come fight day its a 50-50. Could Froch show up the way he did against Bute and destroy Groves. We have yet to see Groves coming in like that and totally dominating a top class fighter it will be a good 1. Need to see the shape of the undercard as it should be huge.

Groves reckons it will be a Hagler-Hearns type fight. I would not want that kind of fight with a man who has a granite chin

As I see it, this is an even more intriguing fight now and I feel it's a really hard one to call given all the factors, Froch will come in better prepared this time, no doubt, how much his age, even in this short space of time affects him who knows, from experience it's one of those things that can just hit you like that, or creep along, he also knows Groves has the ability and power to hurt him, but can't see him changing too much in his approach from last time other than being a little more cautious.

Groves on the other-hand, well he'll have more experience/ more confidence and be better prepared himself for this one now, especially having seen Froch close up first-hand.

Froch clearly has little time for Groves, that much is obvious, and I know from friends that Froch is actually a pretty decent guy, so it pains me to stick my neck out and say Groves stops him in this one (if he remains calm), saw enough evidence in the last one to suggest Groves has the style to beat him, especially now he'll come in and tidy his game up a bit

I too think the fight was stopped too early but have an inkling that Froch will have gone on to beat him. He's got the stamina and the history of doing it. A more clear defeat could be the best thing to happen to Groves as he was unbeaten until then and he needs to learn how to pick himself back up again after a loss. Many of the great fighters were knocked down a couple of times. Groves was seen as the enemy of the two but I think he's a better character than Froch. He seems more level headed and less of a celebrity too. If he lets his fighting do the talking then he's got a very bright future ahead of him.

I did look in to tickets but wasn't quick enough as it sold out in an hour. I'll go out for it, though. A Sports Bar or somewhere.

I think Froch's claims to have taken him lightly are spurious. He's always been relatively wide open to big right hands except maybe in the Abraham fight. If the 1st round knockdown was due to him taking Groves lightly he's got no excuse for getting tagged repeatedly in the 6th because he'd recovered by then.

I don't think Froch will be any better next time out. The old adage about fighters getting old overnight may have happened to Froch last time. He can only go to the well so many times. Unless he bullies Groves early on and gets on top I fear it'll be a tough night's work for Froch.

Possibly mate, possibly, I guess only Froch, and maybe his camp to a lesser degree know the true answer to that one, but I genuinely think he under-estimated Groves and expected to be able to walk through those big rights at the very least, as much as anything I think Groves's power took him by surprise and I think from then on he realised it was going to be a very difficult night.

I guess next time we'll get more answers one way or the other mate.

I guess the winner will get a shot at the most boring boxer in the world today after as well

Seriously my Mum punches harder than Ward he is just way to slick, like trying to punch a shadow neither Froch nor Groves can beat him so he will be happy I guess

Andre Ward is so slick a boxer all his fights are a bit no risk at the moment for him. I think as a fighter he needs to take on a risky fight. I would love to see him in with Gennady Golovkin if he moves up to Super Middleweight a real danger can bang and can box. Or even if Ward was to move up a weight whos to say he move up a weight and take on the champions there be Stephenson or Kovalev or even BHOP I hope not as that would put me to sleep.

This weeks boxing on sky looks good Kevin Mitchell is fighting along with Kell Brook and Tony Bellew a good card. See Mitchell if he wins might end up getting a world title fight against Miguel Vazquez on the Froch V Groves bill also there could be another all British World Title fight on the undercard too with Jamie McDonnell fighting Stuart Hall in a bantamweight world title fight too. So it could be if all works out 3 world title fights on 1 night thats some going.

Nothing boring about watching Andre Ward

To watch a master of his craft at work never bores me. Were you similarly bored watching Messi at our place ?
