The Boxing thread

That's how it is scored usually. Throw in a few marks for defence and ring work ie holding the centre. But generally it's landing more of the better punches.
I thought Usyk did a reasonable job cutting off the ring and landed abetter percentage of his punches whilst look efficient and not getting caught with anything Fury had with his back of the head work and slappy generally sloppy work. I had Usyk by two especially after Fury gave rounds seven and eight a miss for a breather

Agreed.

Parker had improved dramatically since appointing Andy Lee as trainer, Think they are together 3 or 4 years now and it's been good for Parker other than the defeat to Joe Joyce.

His performances against Wilder and especially Zhang have been extremely good.

I think he'll beat Dubois on points.
I'm really surprised they have put the newly crowned Dubois in with him - too awkw an opponent witho the accolades for beating him.

To be fair to Parker, he's not great in any one particular department and I think he recognises that which is why he seems to take it all in from Lee.

They are a great pairing and Parker is infinitely better than the fighter that got beat by Joshua however many years ago.

I'm real looking forw to it with the tremendous undercard...........

I am not a connoisseur of boxing but even though I watched it it was a little boring, not exactly on the edge of your seat stuff.

Heavyweight boxing has suffered over the years without the legions of slick yanks in the division.

Can now see a Joshua fury fight next year and then both walk away into the sunset .
I can see this happening too. It's a pity it's now when they are both on the decline, It would have made for a thrilling contest years ago.

Having said that, It would be worth watching just for the build up alone, Fury would have the fight won in the build up to the fight, It would be an absolute circus.

AJ gets wound up so easily by opponents, Imagine what Fury would do to get under his skin.

Nice pay day for them both all the same, A sell out at Wembley and as you said both head off into the sunset.

So many had this boring theory, frustrating thing is - If Fury had won deservedly you’ll be saying how right you was and it was all a fix
Boxing only has itself to blame for people thinking like that though because of how rife it has been with dodgy decisions ever since i can remember.

Glad that Usyk got the decision. I struggled to score it round by round because I kept doubting myself, thinking subconsciously that the close rounds would go to Fury. Gave up in the end and just had a general perception at the end that maybe Usyk just nicked it. Wasn't sure about 116-112 mind. Glad it's now 2-0 and we don't have to see it again because I didn't think it was the greatest fight to watch. Intriguing but never really caught any kind of fire. Both of them too good defensively to allow any major damage to be taken.

Dubois is a tit. Frank Warren blowing smoke up his arse about 'knocking usyk down' when he got his arse handed to him for every other second of the fight and then stopped with a jab. Usyk is not Joshua. Dubois won't be able to steamroller him. He'll get taught a lesson again if a second fight occurs. Only thing i wonder is can usyk really be arsed rematching another British guy that he's beat handily once before.

Fury AJ now? It would still be fun. I'd be in for it.

I was struggling to be enthused with this even when both were at their peak. I have little respect for AJ and think Fury would walk through him
I think both are diminished and probably at a similar level now. If Fury was to turn up in the state he did last night then AJ has every chance to chin him.
