The Boxing thread

At big fights like that with a outdoor venue there was always going to be troble at the fight. Just the amount of people in the end.

It wasn't a great venue by all accounts. Not equipped for Boxing at all. Out in the streets of East London is easier.

Predictably boring and one sided Matchroom card last night. Bellew and Brook will not will a world title (if Kell can even make weight for his shot).

The Golden Boy card was a farce, Malik Scott counted out on a slap from Wilder and Herrera robbed on the scorecards (had him up by two rounds).

Brook is fighting the winner of Paulie MalIgnaggi v Shawn Porter if ever there is a chance of Brook winning a title it is in this fight with the winner. Porter is a good boxer but he lacks the power and Kell for his part has the power to cause him and Paulie lots of problems. I do think Kell will win the fight with either.

As for Bellew depends who they can get him a title fight with. He can bang no doubting it up at the higher weight and I think having that punch power and if he is brave then the chances are he too can be champion. I think if Matchroom can get a champion to come to Liverpool then chances are Bellew has a good chance to win the title in his backyard saying that they want to do a Huck fight.

Love watching Kell - think he's by far the most skillful British boxer to watch at the min. Big question marks over his stamina though.. If he sort's that, he could do very well. I just wonder if the postponement of the Alexander fights had a big effect on him - he's cut a very frustrated and unhappy figure since.

Bellew annoys me more than Jr Witter Amir Khan, or even Fraudley Harrison. He's a domestic boxer that thinks he's world class. Last night's shenanigans whilst the bloke received medical attention showed him up as a c**t. He was lucky to get away with winning that fight after he ignored his corners instruction to take a few mins after the low blow. If a 37yo has been can do that wait till he gets to the big boys.

Sad to hear GGG lost his father and has postponed his next fight. Wondering if we may see him avoided by the big guns when he does return. People are very wary of him and I can see people taking advantage of his age(31) and avoiding him for another year or two till he slows down/loses some power.

I think Brook's overrated. Punchpower, stamina, attitude all questionable. Never fought anyone top class yet has the gall to call out Khan who I think would totally outclass him.

Bellew's a first rate ****, I agree that he's a domestic level fighter. It was only his fight with Clev where he put up a decent display that put him on the world stage. And Clev's been exposed as way short of top class since then. I don't think Bellew has punch power up at cruiserweight. I don't think any aspect of his game is anywhere near world class.

Sky's hype is pissing me off. It's one thing to talk up their fighters but it's getting more ridiculous month by month. Fighters way short of the top level are hailed as world class again and again. Brook, Bellew, Burns, Quigg, Barker, Murray, Macklin, McDonnell etc aren't in that league.

I'd take that action, khan would be made for brook, in fact I'd see it over within 7!!!

I think Khan outboxes him. Too fast, too many angles. There's always a chance that Amir walks on to a shot, loses his head and stands there slugging it out but I see him dominating Kell and crushing his spirit. And Kell's a bit chinny too.

Agree with a lot of what you say but i think Murray had proved he can mix with the best. Although hes been beaten its been close and hes looked the part.

Eddie Hearn is doing very well in setting up decent cards to be fair. Exciting times for Sky, at the end of the day they are there to promote boxing (which they'll do till the cows come home and your sick to death of them haha). I do think they realise boxing has been below par the last few years and think they are looking to make more worthwhile matches. Those fighters are good to watch but agree they are not world class - bar Brook I think - but we'll know within 12 months if that's the case.

Luke Campbell and Anthony Joshua are going to be great to watch. I'd personally like Sky to poach Ryder/BJ Saunders/Eubank Jr(the tosser) off Boxnation as the domestic fights between them will be good TV.
