The Boxing thread

Johnson has never been stopped and has been in with big hitters, Joshua has thrown 2 bombs and eradicated that 35 fight record, he is the most exciting heavyweight since Tyson and has the boxing capabilities of Lewis, however, a poor division could tarnish what will be a phenomenal career!!
You love a bit of hyperbole.

David Price looked a worldbeater fighting bums. Let's wait till he actually gets a test (or even gets a test of his chin).

Johnson hasn't been stopped, but that was during his proper career. His heart looked completely gone, he knows he's not there to compete anymore and was just there for the paycheck. Without the hunger and desire to compete, he looked pathetic.

Joshua might be this superman Tyson-Lewis hybrid you think he is, but the reality is he's beating up bums who are only there to take a beating. Untill he fights someone who actually a legitimate fighter, who actually is still a career boxer instead of a punching bag, it's a bit early to be hyping him that much imo

I've seen enough fighters in my time to know what's staring me in the face. The entire boxing community is a buzz with the lad, rightly so, it's not because he's banging out 'bums' as you say, it's because those who look for more than the obvious knockouts, see great footwork, a delightful jab, his speed for nigh on 18 stone is incredible and most importantly of all, all great champions have this aura about them....

It's ok to be excited by a prospect and cautious in the same light, however, you're looking at a future superstar of the sport!!!!

Fuck a duck, it's burt sugar to give his master analysis, once again.....

I have seen a lot of class ams turning pro and not working out for them. AJ looks like he has taken to the pro game at ease. Granted he needs a proper test but he has the makings of being able to win a Heavyweight title in a piss poor division. I look and there is nothing there. AJ reminds me of Carl Frampton the way he is going about his business at a early stage he is so exciting to watch and he has a great am background to fall back on which we will see in the bigger fights. Get him in with Chisora and Price in his next 2 fights then move him up to a European title fight. Within the next 2 years he could well be fighting for a World title.

As for a Brook v Khan fight I would take Brook a natural at the weight more power and he is on such a high he is going to go to bigger things. He feels like he is the best in the division and he is preforming well. I look to the fights that could happen for Kell. Him v Khan or Keith Thurman would be a brilliant fight just think Thurman might get the Money fight ahead of Khan.

As for Lee Selby delighted for him the Selby family have some brilliant fighters and when his younger brother goes pro Andrew will more than likely be the best out of the 2 brothers so talented is that kid.

You said he has 'the boxing capabilities of Lennox Lewis' off the back of smacking around a few no-marks. Doesn't take a masterful analyst to point out that you're jumping the gun a bit.

I hope he does eventually become a great, but let's wait and see how composed he looks when someone is actually throwing shots back at him before anointing him the new king of the HW division.

I dont think Cotto will go anywhere near GGG. GGG is just too strong at the weight and his punch power is so impressive. So a aging Miguel Cotto will not want to be in there with GGG.

Good to hear that Martin Murray has signed up to Matchroom. The first fight should be him v Macklin it would be a brilliant fight to see if Macklin still has it at the elite level and would be a good fight for Murray to build him up for a crack at maybe Andy Lee or Billy Joe Saunders.

He's moving to SMW so he won't be facing Macklin any time soon.
