The Boxing thread

I don't really like Tyson but when you look at the boring cunts we've got from the 2012 generation he's exactly what boxing needs. Luke Campbell our best ever amateur and future world champion, yet stick him in front of the camera and hes one of the most boring cunts I've ever seen, its like listening to Sam Allardyce.

Even Anthony Joshua who (I think) seems like an alright fella, stick him in front of a camera and its all soundbites and cliches.

I dont want boxing to become WWE. but I also cant be arsed with it becoming snooker.

All i can say after watching that is he better win. Cringe worthy stuff. Boxing shouldn't need to be about press conferences and selling tickets, the fights themselves should be what sells the tickets. That for me it is a reflection on the poor quality of heavyweight boxing and the lack of interest from the general British public.

Yeah I thought he done what he had to do to win. He was carrying a bit of a injury into the fight and done well in getting rid of the guy. I think this is the first real fight for each other where they will both be tested and we will see a good fight. How long it goes on I dont know. Will AJ be able to take a shot?? Will Whyte?? Someones 0 has to go.

Whyte was dreadful in his last fight. Shoulder injury or not, he was getting cloccked numerous times during the short time the fight was going on and anyone better than the tomato can that he was facing would have hurt him. Joshua will destroy Whyte IMO. Not only because Joshua looks much more powerful and much faster, but because Whyte thinks he's better than he is and, despite the fact that he's the one who won the amateur fight, he's the one who looks the more rattled. Joshua looks calm as fuck and once Whyte opens up - which he will - Joshua will tag him again & again.

I can't see it going past 4 rounds, that's for sure.

Also, Groves needs to get back with Booth because Paddy Fitz is grossly overated. Degale would breeze past Jack, possibly even with a KO in the mid-late rounds.

In fairness, Paddy Fitzpatrick has already come along and said he thinks a Groves split will be the best move. He's lost three from five now and needs change somewhere. At one point he was our truly promising super middleweight and now the less likely James DeGale is a world champion and he isn't.

I want him to get leathered, anyone who finds fancy dress funny needs a thump
you do realise people are allowed a different opinion to yourself, not trying to get into an internet war of words here, but I personally find the guy funny and think he brings a real entertainment factor to the division.

I've got a daft sense of humour but he got that completely wrong. Klitschko wasn't remotely fazed by it and largely blanked him.

Klitschko smiled whilst it was happening and he was either thinking this is great for entertainment and will generate more sales" or "this guy is a lunatic" listening to Klitschko after the conference when he was talking alone to the press, he spoke eloquently and seemed like an intelligent guy, but fury is correct, the klit is boring as fight promoter. A lot of people seem to think fury is going to get demolished, I personally think Fury will win, in his last 5 or so fights he has progressed as a boxer, he still has his moments but he in the ring (when he isn't singing) he starting to look like the real deal.

Really don't like Fury, and I really don't rate him either. He's a big fucker, 6'9", and uses his size and weight to lean on people and sap their strength, but technically he's not that great. Klitschko is far and away the better boxer and will systematically pick Fury apart with his jabs. Steve Cunningham is a fighter without a great deal of power, and he put Fury on his arse. I don't think Klitschko will knock him out, but I think he'll comprehensively out point him 118-109 or something like that on the cards.

Anthony Joshua is still pretty early in his professional boxing career, and he's not exactly fought a string of well known fighters at this stage, however he's absolutely destroyed whoever he's faced. Dillian Whyte may well be a step up in class, but I can still only see a Joshua KO win, and within the first 4 rounds to boot. Joshua's jaw hasn't been remotely tested yet so the real tell as to whether he's got World titles in him is when he first gets tagged, and how well he copes with it. Being big, quick, strong and have hammers for fists gets you far in boxing, but if your chin is iffy you'll fall short of being truly great. That's Khan's issue, he's got the movement, the pace, the hand speed and the power but against the true top level performers you know he's only one well placed shot away from landing on his back on the canvas.

Fury might be a wanker but i think this fight is Klitschko's first real test. I cant remember the last time Klitschko was fighting against someone taller than him and with a longer reach. If Fury has the technique to box he would cause Klitschko a lot of problems. Fury will go looking for a KO which will prevent him beating Klitschko. Saying that there comes a time when a fighter just looks old and finished its only a matter of time for it to happen with Klitschko. Would love to see Klitschko retiring after this fight then the heavyweight division will get a lot better competitive.

As for AJ he will be tested by Whyte. Both guys chin will be tested it will be a cagey fight for the first few rounds. I would say AJ would win the fight but I think it will be the first really tough nights work for AJ. IF AJ works behind his jab he should have too much for Whyte but depending on how Whyte gets to him he might end up going toe to toe with him instead and a chance of being caught by a few shots.

Hearing rumours Frampton V Quigg is getting closer to be made for Feb in Manchester or London. Think Frampton might be defeanding his title before the year is out and taking on Quigg. Something will be announced soon of either the Quigg fight or 2 fights for Frampton in a short space of time.
