Watched the undercard from Thurman last night. What on earth was the ref thinking letting Gerald Washington continue? Shame on the corner too for not having the towel in. Awful, thankfully got stopped two punches later.
 
That Lopez kid in the fight before Kovalev’s looked a serious hitman. One to watch.

Well done to Kovalev. Not an all time great for me but a real scrapper.
 
To say Kovalev isnt a all time great is 1 thing. The guy never ducked anyone and was found out by Andre Ward twice and avenged his shock defeat by Alvarez I think he is back to the level were he can go out and look for a big fight now. Last big pay day. Kovalev v Bivol would be great to see also maybe even a fight with USyk would be 2 big money fights for Kovalev to go for before he retires where he will make big money.
 
Annoyed I didnt put £ on Garcia to beat Cheeseman now (I had 8/1 for the stoppage) a lot of knowledgeable lads told me this would be Cheesemans Ritson/Patera moment and they were proved correct. The biggest shame is we dont get to see the Fowler fight anytime soon.

Ritson had a bit of an excuse that his kidney was badly damaged in the first couple of rounds which caused him a lot of trouble. Be interesting to see how he gets on in his next couple of fights.

Cheeseman was just outclassed from minute one to the very end. Garcia might end up being world level but on that performance Cheeseman will do well to win a european belt.

Inrterestingly, last week I said to my wife I'd love to open a boxing club here in Valencia because there's nothing here. I presumed because of the south Americans there'd be some kind of interest but when I looked it up boxing is frowned upon here as being mafia run and too brutal. There is interest in mma etc though. So any fighter that comes out of here has done very well for themselves. Garcia looks brilliant, matchroom might even try to grab him after that.

The biggest lesson Ritson needed to take from that fight was that he cant just walk everyone down, he never changed things up during the fight and was setting up absolutely nothing off the jab. He will come back though.

Ted, to be fair to the lad didnt get any help from his corner whatsoever I was shocked at the lack of assistance from Sims. Although hes getting praise for being brave Ted probably just took years off his own career, his only defence on saturday was his chin it was a really really poor performance and it will be a while before hes stepping up to euro level again.

Will be interesting to see their PPV numbers (if indeed they risk PPV) over here. Will be on early hours, Miller is average, and the recent AJ undercards have been shit.

I'd like to see AJ in with Fury & Dillian fight Wilder. Decent pay day for Miller and AJ gets more exposure in the states. Apart from that it's a watered down fight.
 
The undercard will have to be stacked big time. They need a big US fight to get the numbers they want. I wouldnt be shocked if its a really big card stacked with World title fights on it. IF they can get a few over for it. Wouldnt be shocked to see some of Hearns big named fighters on it too.
