Some strange shouts in the comments, suggesting it's Hearn's fault because they matched him too easy.
Firstly he's not been matched easy, Selby, Frampton, Galahad in the previous 3 years is good going. Secondly he signed for Matchroom this time last year and this was his first fight under them because of the COVID disruptions.
I do think this opponent was all wrong for him stylisticly, plus he hadn't fought for over a year(Dec 2019) and this was no tune up fight.
At the same time though, we don't know whether an easier tuneup was planned first or not, the fighter and his team decide ultimately. Warrington's camp could have been overconfident and fast tracked this one. They are supposed to do their homework on the opponents too and it didn't look like they did. He didn't even attempt to show anything different, so the gameplan was off from the start for me. It looked as though they expected to blast him out of there in the first 3 rounds.
Maybe this will improve him long term, bring a new trainer in and adapt his game.
