The Boxing thread

McGregor has a great chance if he can get to Mayweather, but I've seen far better boxers then McGregor not even get anywhere near him. It would only take one punch and I'd love to see the woman beater on his arse, I just can't see McGregor getting to him

One big joke this Mayweather McGregor fight.
It'll bring a lot of money to both fighters, has increased the profile of MMA, be it in a negative way with the way Conor is acting, but it's exactly that... One big fucking act to sell PPV.

As for winning, Mayweather all day long. He's a schooled boxer, boxing is an art form in itself and based on points scoring, he will win every round.
They are fighting in heavier boxing gloves, designed to protect the opponent. the audiences have seen Conor knocking people out wearing 4oz mma gloves, which are designed to simply protect the hand, not the opponent.

In a street/cage fight it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that the MMA Fighter would win 9/10x
With a quick take down, Kimura arm lock and the boxers arm is snapped off...taking away his best form of attack in seconds.
But in a boxing bout, you can't do that so yea Floyd will win this.

It does however enlighten alot of the boxing audience towards UFC, even with the MMA Fighter losing it doesn't make the sport look bad as the fight was with boxing rules.

Anyone notice the t-shirt Dana was wearing at a press conference?
It said Zuffa Boxing.
As in Zuffa is the company that own UFC and it looks like they may be going into boxing promotions???

If you have been a long time MMA fan you will remember back in the day that Dana White was actually a boxing promoter himself, before buying UFC with the sons of the Italian Mafia Casino dude.

Pure cross PR exercise, McGregor will be schooled.
Almost like watching Citys first team play a NBA team in a soccer game.
NBA fans will become more interested in soccer, particularly Man City. Win/Win.

The thing is if McGregor gets so much under the skin and it makes Maywheater want to go toe to toe with McGregor then we may well have a chance that McGregor can land a telling punch that will see Maywheater revert to his typical style and just box the head off him. But if Conor can tag him early and cold then it may well put the cat among the pigeons and it could well be a totally different fight. I honestly dont see Money stopping McGregor as in KOing him. But I can see McGregor more so KOing Maywheater its the only way he wins this fight.
IF it was MMA it wouldnt last any time. I just see a Maywheater win on Points. NO one involved with boxing would want Conor winning this fight. The 1 of the greatest modern day fighters getting beaten by a novice fighter.

The whole charade is staged as fuck, like WWF, but it's hilarious.

I'll watch all the pressers (for free on youtube) and steal the fight itself, so it's not costing me a penny. (£69.99 on PPV! LOL)

Won't be that expensive over here, it will be around the £30... regardless I won't be paying, get that shit for free..

I have to say, I'm no UFC fan or Mcgreggor but he's making this entertaining as fuck, however he hasn't got a prayer!

Are they really putting the price at £70? It will bomb, nobody will pay that surely?

I think people are using the line most boxing fans have heard against a lot of Mayweathers opponents: "If he can land a punch and show his superior strength and toughness then it could well turn the fight" Conor is tough and strong but he's already faced that many times, boxers as tough as they come who can really take a punch with knockout power... who can also box better than Conor. I'm not really the biggest Mayweather fan but I give him his props, I think Mayweather is tougher than we give him credit for too, he has a chin but doesn't feel the need to let people hit him on it to prove it. I remember the fight against Shane Mosely most for how much it threw Shane's game off completely when he tried to rough up and bully Mayweather only for Mayweather to do the same back, he looked visibly surprised by it and confused what to do next.

Apparently 5 independent judges watched a re-run of the Manny v Jeff Horn fight. 3 judges gave it to Horn. This wudnt of changed the original decision but Pacs camp requested it looked at. It was close but take it on the chin.

Can only see a CEJ win on points against Abraham, im expecting a bore fest after last weeks free viewing.
