The Boxing thread

Anyone watch roman Gonzales totally outclassed yafai ? He took him apart round by round . Brilliant boxing from a great

What a display that was by an absolute craftsman. Dismantled him piece by piece. Poor Kal didn’t know where half the shots were coming from.
That was one of the best performances I’ve seen in a long while . What I couldn’t understand though was how anyone could write gonzalez off as the only person to beat him is himself an elite fighter and before the knockout Roman was probably edging it . Sheer class

Good card at the weekend, Chocolatito, Parker, Mikey Garcia, Martinez(great effort from Harris) all good fights.

Hands up I was one of those writing him off certainly at elite level. He’d had a long career and I figured time had caught up with him and it was such a comprehensive knockout that maybe his punch resistance had gone. This fight shows that probably people were bang wrong to write him off but also that Kal is nowhere near elite level. Wonder if a 3rd fight with rungvisai is on the cards ?

Maybe but I think he would get beat by rungvisal who is an elite fighter himself

maybe but I think rungvisal will want to avenge the Estrada defeat. I think at this point in his career rungvisal is too busy a fighter for Gonzales to contend with . Lots of good fights out there for him though

Whyte vs Povetkin should be good, two guys who could never be accused of avoiding a tough fight. Povetkin is an example of the type of mentality we want in boxing, he's 40 and he still wont take easy fights.

Meanwhile over at PBC Andy Ruiz Jr announces his next opponent, Chris Arreola. He's better than that in my opinion but he's being badly advised. I get that it's tough to come back from two defeats in a row these days(shouldn't be like that) but that's the type of opponent you choose when you've taken two in a row. Like Parker has been doing but he's had injuries and spider bites slowing down his comeback. It's bit of shame how a decent boxer, that wants the tough fights, is so easily dismissed by the fans these days. While they give all their attention to guys with protected records.

AJ vs Pulev is not an easy fight at all. This will be another top 10 level opponent(that'll be 6) for AJ's resume should he win. Yet his resume is cherrypicked/manufactured according to casual opinion? You have to laugh.

That Anthony Fowler is a real knob must be a relation to the Dipper Fowler. The fight was a farce with his opponent having a pair of roller skates on

Eddie must have taken some backhanders for these match ups, the lad v Fowler looked like someone after 20pints on Christmas Eve skating around the car park.

This Luanja lad looks like he’s come out the crowd as well. What a farce.

i had Jonno Carroll to win by points at the weekend. Gutted Quiggs corner pulled him ouy was on yo win 200 euro as well my money sorted for the Cheltenham races but Quiggs corner pulled him out. I was gutted.

Well if you knew anything about boxing, you'd know what mandataries are for a start.
He's a year younger than Wladimir was when when Fury faced him(38). Who's the only boxer he's lost to. Cherry pick? Only in casual/fanboy opinion. Oh the double standards too regarding Wladimir, he became old in 1 year, despite looking fresher, hungrier and having trained for the rematch which Fury ducked inbetween.

Or are you saying Wladimir wasn't a credible win for either of them? Leaving Fury's best win as Wilder...

Suppose you'll tell me Wilder has a better boxing resume than AJ and Ortiz is the most feared man in boxing next. Haha!
